Men listen up - less truly is more!

In some cases less is even to much for me! I guess you might say 'it depends on what I'm talking about'...sure it does. Let me tell you what exactly I mean. Colon/after shave: stinky, horrible, overdone, overused. What got me cranked up over this you ask? Our neighbor! He's a little guy, tiny by most standards. However he is big in stink department. He came over yesterday when the plumber arrived since he knows how the water lines run he wanted to be of help. Standing 5 or 6 feet from him, outside in the nice clean air, the smell of his colon was enough to knock me over. There was a slight breeze so I tried to stand down-wind of him. After he left the stink lingered. My real problem is that he is going to help my husband take the bathroom counter tops apart, take sinks and faucets out, etc. so the granite guy can make the templates. That means our bathroom will smell/stink and no, no window in the bathroom that opens unfortunately. I realize that I cannot ask him to leave the colon in the bottle but I sure wish I had the nerve to tell him less truly is more! Photo: pixabay.com/en/skunk-wildlife-portrait-walking-1591309/

Sorry but you made me laugh so loud for the "smell of his colon". I suspect that the colon is pretty smelly, but it's true that also the Cologne (perfume) can be very annoying if over used.

@AbbyGreenhill If there is something I hate is to catch the morning flights, they are full of men who put on too much perfume.

Oh! cologne! I was thinking colon.... he has poo or farty smells? which is even funnier when I got the mental image of a colon in a bottle.

@LoriAMoore To clarify: Message In a Bottle was by Sting; Colon In A Bottle was by Stink.

Lol you could mention how strong it is in a kind way. Sometimes men do not shower often and spray themselves with cologne to mask it.

I don't think he misses showering - I just think he's trying to hide his wife's cig. smell.

My hubby runs into this miserable issue at work. Its supposed to be scent free there cause folks are sensitive like you speak of. But some folks just ignore the directive from higher up.

Some perfumes and colognes are very strong. I can understand your dilemma. Maybe dab your favourite perfume right under your nose and hope his doesn't get past it.

I don't wear perfume - I stopped years ago since wearing perfume in the summer can attract bees and then I developed asthma so perfume is a no no.

Have your husband tell him you can't take strong smells, and could he please not wear the cologne as you get headaches from it. I'm sure you hubby won't have a problem telling him. Nothing wrong with a little white lie

It wouldn't be a lie - but we need this guy for little projects so I don't think my husband would want to piss him off.

My son went through this during his twenties. Thankfully he grew out of it. Is there any chance that your neighbour will do the same??

I agree, my grandson loves Axe and it's awful. My older son likes something too, not sure what, but when they spray it, I have a coughing gagging fit. I can't handle it. So glad now I live alone. My younger son didn't wear any, which was good.

Sounds as though he's missing a trick. Smaller guy = smaller surface area to cover with after-shave. It should be much more cost-effective for the vertically challenged. Believe me, I know! Maybe a lot of people buy him the same thing for Christmas and his birthday and he's trying to use them all up at the rate of a bottle a day.

I don't think anyone buys him gifts...they never have company and from the way he talks he and his wife don't exchange gifts - so your theory - albeit a good one, doesn't fit here LOL!

Oh man! I hate when I come across people who smell OR their breath smells and they talk SUPER close to you. I dont know if you have this but those who SMELL or have ODOR tend to talk/stand CLOSER than the norm!

Aha! I was part-way through this before I realised what you meant! The colon (the lower part of the bowel, just before the rectum) probably doesn't smell too good but you are kind of stuck with the length you have unless you have surgery, it's hard to leave it in a bottle! Cologne on the other hand (named after the original perfume which was called Eau de Cologne after the German city) is definitely better when used in moderation.

Colognes on men, or women for that matter, should whisper - not shout.

Use lemon to deodorize the place or lysol sprays. Lol

I don't use/can't use sprays of any kind - lysol is worse than his smell!
