Liquor is quicker

Somewhere on myLot, just a day or two ago, I saw an Ogden Nash quote which said: Candy is dandy but liquor is quicker.
I knew I had an Ogden Nash book somewhere so I went looking for it. It is actually entitled 'Candy is Dandy: The Best of Ogden Nash'.
So I've had an interesting time flicking through the book. I thought I'd share two very short quotes that I found while searching for one about panthers. One is 'God in his wisdom make the fly, And then forgot to tell us why'. I'd add the mosquito to this too. I can't think of any earthly reason why we need mosquitoes.
The panther one goes:
The panther is like a leopard
Except it hasn't been peppered
Should you behold a panther crouch
Prepare to say Ouch
Better yet, if called by a panther
Don't anther.
I just love stuff like this.

I had not heard of Ogden Nash, which is a pity because he sounds too good to have been missed. I love rummaging though old books and diaries, it takes me back to the time when I first read them.

I had a book on funny limericks but just cannot find it. I remember one though

@fishtiger58 And I never like repellents much. I find them sticky and irritating. Luckily I don't like fishing.

@JudyEv In a heartbeat, they ruin the outdoors sometimes for me. I love to fish but to fish at dusk is a great time, but the mosquitoes are the worst then as well.
