Proud Auntie here! My nephew, only in his first grade will be joining a national level competition. He is so good that is why we are very much supportive of him. We all are hoping he wins, but if not, at least he made it to the national level and have experienced joining a quiz bee. I am sure this is just the first of many competitions he will be joining soon. Have you joined any national level academic competition? Or some sports competition maybe? Share your story. It is always nice to reminisce.

Your nephew is an intelligent child since he is good in Science. My brother before participated in national school press conference for feature writing but he did not win.

Wow, you brother must be good in writing. Though he did not win, it is the experience he gets and joining in contests is a great confidence-booster.

@averygirl72 wow, that is great! He must be really good in writing and i think if you love what you do, you get better at it. Is he writing for a particular journal, or mewspaper?

My nephew used to compete in science quiz bee too when he was in grade school. I accompany him everytime. I am more nervous than him everytime he competes.

@Yadah04 I cannot remember at all if we had academic competitions when I was a student. I suppose we had because I have a few medals. I am sure that I never joined sport competitions.

Yes, when I was still in law school. I represented my school in the National Moot Court Competition on International Humanitarian Law. The elimination round was held at the Supreme Court. I'm glad we placed 3rd. The one who landed first represented Philippines in the international level held in US.

Wow that was some serious academic feat. Congrats for placing third. And wow, i am just proud of my kababayan for landing the first. You said law school? Are you in practice already? My hubby happened to be a law school graduate too but have not yet taken the bar exams.

How wonderful! That is awesome that your nephew is only in first grade and is going to a national spelling bee! I taught first grade, and believe me, most kids couldn't spell their own name! Lol!

Thanks! That is what we hope too. And although we support him, we are conscious of putting pressure on him twin. We just tell him to do his best and enjoy the experience.
