I'm Having a Bit of Cake Before Breakfast

My husband bought me a rose and baby's breath arrangement on the eve of Valentine's day and I was going to bake him a chocolate cake, but began washing my kitchen floor and forgot all about the cake. So, when he was done working yesterday I told him he could buy one being sold for the day. I was thinking of a small heart shaped cake, enough for maybe two servings, but he found the cake in the picture instead. I designated this morning as a day to get my yearly blood work done for my insurance. I needed to get at that before my surgery and tonight I'm going to a retirement party, so didn't want to wait until tomorrow. That meant that I didn't eat after 6:30pm last night. No cake when I got home from work either. I usually have some type of snack at night so that was quite hard. This morning I headed to the lab about nine am and when I returned I began making myself some french toast. While waiting for it to cook, I had a piece of the cake. Yum. Now the trick is to leave it alone the rest of the day.

I can skip breakfast, but it's hard for me to skip coffee.

@MarshaMusselman I only drink coffee in the morning, nothing containing caffeine after noon, this disrupts my sleep.

I don't drink coffee every day anymore, but I have been drinking it more often. I took a nap but a bit longer than I anticipated. Now my day is almost gone, but I'm having the coffee now.

In Jesus name may you have a very successful surgery! God bless and be brave ...trust in God and depend on his strength. Yummy cake I hope I can get one too. But I guess I am still so full with the mocha cake last Sunday. I ate only a bit of it.... But I really don't like the taste of its icing.... That is why I think I will not be able to eat cakes for ghe meantime. But if someone will give me a vanilla cake from Betsy my appetite for cakes will call me back. Lol!

I have to fast every year, but I usually do it in March not when I have good food to eat awaiting me. I also don't remember having to go twelve hours in quite a few years, but maybe I just don't remember.

@celticeagle That sounds good too. I've never heard of that. I recently had peach frozen yogurt which was delicious, but my favorite is pistachio almond ice cream. Here we get it by Stroh's.

No, I had another bigger piece in the afternoon with a bit of ice cream, and it's still calling to me even now. If my husband wasn't sleeping in the living room I'd have gotten both the cake and ice cream by now.

I think the smaller heart shaped cake that I was thinking of when I told him he could get one would have tasted better, but it's hard to stay way from it when it's just sitting there.

Oh lordy that would give me a sugar rush and would make me feel sick. These days I have to ease myself in gently to eat. I hope all goes well with your blood tests and surgery is not too long to have to wait.

What would give you the sugar rush having a small slice or even more of it? I left it alone last night even though it was calling to me each minute, lol.

@garymarsh6 I'm hoping the same thing. Just got done with the six exercises I was given to start before the surgery that will be continued while I'm in the hospital and every day for a while. Two days after I leave the hospital which will be Friday of the same week, I'll be beginning Physical Therapy.

Does that mean you're allergic to chocolate? I shopped this morning after dropping my husband off at work and as I went down the Easter candy aisle I turned my head away so I wouldn't be tempted. I might actually get away this year without buying any, but then again, I'll probably be shopping again by the end of next month if not before, so I'm not going to guarantee that I'm able to stay away completely. Especially since I do like certain candies only out at Easter time. But, I know that sugar is also a culprit for pain management as it causes inflammation, so it's best for me to steer clear completely.

@MarshaMusselman i wish I was allergic to Chocolate, think of the calories I could ignore if i was. I haven't seen Easter Candy yet but I try to avoid stores...The hubs loves to shop and I let him...

There's still a small portion left. I could have another bit tonight and be done with it and save him the rest. That way I won't have to worry about him eating it all tomorrow even though neither one of us should be eating it at all.
