Good afternoon.running late.Being a great day.Spend some time outdoor. Do you remember your first novel that you read. Mine is when at Jr.High School in the 8th grade I believe. We had to read Lady in the Lake by Walter Scott. Not sure that this is a novel or poetry or sorts. I vaguely remember this. The only thing that I know is I hated it. We had to read this for a test.Yep,I flunk it.did not care for hated it. Did not understand the story or poetry whatever they call it. All I know this was not for me. do you recall your first novel.? Now I am reading with very much interest.James Baldwin Notes from a Native sons he was a remarkable man and a writer. Have you read anything by him.He has quite a few. After this will be Go tell it to the Mountain. Have a good afternoon,Photo is domain

@amadeo Up to that point I hadn't shown any interest in reading. I could do it, but that was it. Then I read that at my grandparents' one weekend and haven't stopped since! (I might have been six or so I think.)

Wow no I don't but I was always a voracious reader and probably was 7 years old when I read my first complete novel.

My Mum studied the Lady of Shalott at school. It is a poem and I think that is the correct name for it so it might be a bit different from the one you read.

I sure do it was in grade five and it was Anne of Green Gables. Throughout the year we read the entire series and at the end of the year the teacher took the whole class on a weekend trip to PEI so that we could see the Anne of Green Gables house and where L.M. Montgomery was born. We even went to her gravesite. It was so cool and a memory that I hold very dear.

Very interesting topic... I thought a lot.. but I could not remember.. Probably I read my 1st novel when I was in 5/6th standard and definitely not the novels meant for that age.. because I used to read the books which my father/elder sister used to bring from library for their age.. and I used to read them in secret... :)

Wowie! I've always been a reader and believe my first novels were the Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boy novels at age 7 or 8. I snuck Peyton Place under my blanket and read it with a flashlight when my parents went to bed. Unfortunately, I was discovered! I finished the book years later. Lol!

I have no idea. I loved reading as a child and a teenager and read most of the books in my village library. If I had to guess I would say that my first proper adult novel was probably a Stephen King one. But that is just a guess.
