DeVos Defies the Boss

In her second publicly proclaimed act of Secretary-ship, Betsy DeVos stood up, for a moment, to Herr Trump concerning his desire to overturn the protections Obama put in place for LGBTQ students in Federally funded schools. Her objections were quickly dismissed by Herr Hans Frank...I mean Jeff Sessions. He's been an enemy of the LGBTQ community in every office he's ever held.
Then again, Betsy DeVos' sudden support for Transgender people comes as something of a surprise considering the millions of dollars she and her family have contributed to anti-gay causes and anti-gay candidates over the years. Some commentators have suggested her protest was just a bit of stagecraft to make it look like Herr Trump is willing to listen to opposing views before deciding to ignore them.
Do you think Sect'y DeVos was sincere in wanting to keep the rules in place that allow students to use the bathroom of the gender they identify as, rather than the gender they are, or do you think it was a ruse to distract from the real problems she faces as the head of the failed Federal Department of Education?

What I heard is Jeff Sessions wanted DeVos to sign off on the document that rescinded the protections and she refused, at first, protesting that the protections should stay in place. She was told to be a good girl, sign the document, and keep quiet. The protections were going to be rescinded with our without her blessing.

I am not sure if she is or not. I personally think you should use the ladies bathroom if you got lady parts down there and men use the men`s room you got those body parts.

I think I heard on the news tonight that has changed and they have overridden Obama's rules....So no, she is going to do what ever Trump wants and is an embarrassment to women everywhere...

While I never agreed with the guidelines in the first place, simply because I don't think the whole public school population of the United States should have been discommoded for the perceived comfort of 3/10 of 1% of that group, I have trouble swallowing the idea that DeVos, in fact, stood up to Herr Trump. It was just more gas lighting from the Trump Reich.

@PainsOnSlate I believe you are right. He is already on record as rejecting any intelligence reports that don't tell him what he wants to hear. He's deluded himself about his victory in the Electoral College. He refuses to accept that 10,000,000 more people voted against him than voted for him, and that his is a minority administration lacking the support of over 1/2 the US population.

I agree about the restrooms. I understand that some people are truly confused about their gender, but the number who actually have the brain abnormality that causes it is infinitesimally small. According to the NIS, less than 3/10 of 1 percent of the population are actually, physiologically, transgender.
