Cruising is Calling

If I had the time, and nothing else needed to be done, I would spend it reading peoples blogs on travel mostly because through their eyes, I get to see the world in my chair. No sooner had I finished chatting with Gary about his travels to the Caribbean by way of cruising; and Venice on an earlier travel excursion, when an invite to Cruise Alaska popped into my email box. I am considered a VIP on the cruise listing as we have done a few cruises to date, however it cannot happen too often as the FLIGHTS to the embankment destinations deter us from yearly travel. The cruises are most definitely well worth their cost, and with a choice of excursions, one can opt for the "walk the city" rather than take a bus ride. We normally do that as it allows us to explore the map and choose the destinations we mostly want to see. Cruising Alaska has no appeal for me at the moment and I am not sure that wearing sunglasses all day while looking and the GREAT GLAZIERS melt is what I want to do with my holidays. I am a tourist of HISTORY, Architecture, smells, tastes, and people. So I shall give this special a pass and wait until my Cruise-a-bout site sends me a special on visiting Denmark, Finland, and the Baltic regions. Share your travel blogs with us - we would love to read about them all! Another great postcard depicting the wonderful beaches of Costa del Sol . . . from Barry has arrived @Asylum - this is one person who loves to share his traveling with us. I am the lucky recipient of many a postcard along his travels. Thanks Barry.

I used to write for a few travel sites but over the years they have all gone. I used to enjoy writing for them. I love to read about other peoples travels I find it very interesting to hear peoples views and get their perspectives on what they have experienced and liked about that trips. Whilst the trip to Alaska are fantastic from a scenic point of view I too prefer to visit historical sites and places of interest and as you say above you can visit several countries all in one go. Each day a new country and a new experience. I am surprised Barry has not sent you a postcard from the UK as he rarely visits these days!

ha ha ha Barry has been bed-ridden for a few weeks since his return, so maybe I might just get a card from the UK soon - I must just say he has send me one from Manchester.

I did my usual thing in Torremolinos. I selected and mailed postcards, then soon after came across the four leaf clover shaped ones. Hence two postcards from there. Alaska would be a fascinating place to visit.

@Inlemay That is a pity. I now realise that I cannot think of any port in Alaska, although there must be quite a few.

I noticed on the news that the Mount Etna Volcano was erupting, will this hamper your travels?

@Inlemay Wars, revolutions, coups and earthquakes haven't deterred me so far so a little volcano should be ok.

I would not be tempted at all to visit Alaska, I also love history, architecture, good cuisine, meet people. The Caribbean are fine for a short stop, the Mediterranean for history, architecture, art and culture.

I don't think that I would care to cruise Alaska either, but I would like to visit Alaska.
