To live alone, you have to know at least how to fry an egg!

A friend has been talking to me and other friends about living alone. He can't live with his controlling parents anymore... But the problem is that he is totally uncompromising with things and he can hardly do things by himself. I was very honest with him (even because I don't like fantasizing about any situation) and told him to become a more responsible person first and then think about it again later. Sometimes people want changes that they can't handle.

He could always learn, probably the hard way. Or, he could find a cheap dinner or a rich girl friend.

I know someone like that.. He once came over to help me at my house and he picked up the mop and asked me if it was the broom.. I thought he was joking... and I felt really bad for him when I realized he was not.. I mean how does someone go through 40+ years of like without knowing the difference between a mop and a broom? I mean don't we even learn these things in kindergarten or First grade .. like they show us pictures and make us spell, M O P, B R O O M.. I guess living with his parents he doesn't have to do an cleaning....

I used to live alone and fryig eggs was all I knew in cooking. I couldn't live on eggs so I used to spend a lot on buying ready food

Sounds like it would do him the world of good to get out and try to fend for himself.

I think there would be no better teacher for your friend than for him to move out on his own. After all if he hasn't learned to take care of himself by now living at home then he isn't likely to.

That's the basic to cooking, it's a must learn skill. Or at least know how to make instant noodles If he can't even do that, it would be hard to live alone. He can eat out but that would be costly.

It is a good idea to be ready for something you're wanting to change.. It would be much more difficult for him other wise. It may make him learn being on his own, though.

Sounds like living on his own will come with a steep learning curve. I hope that he is patient lol!
