Do you go through comments before commenting?

Sometimes I would go through comments and replies before posting mine just to make sure not to post a similar comment. Not that there is anything wrong with posting similar comments but I just try to make my content original. For the person who published the post, it would be easier to reply to original comments and create conversations, than to repeat himself when replying to similar comments. That of course doesn't apply to "good morning" posts, as one should expect everyone to type good morning in their comments. Do you bother checking all the comments before posting yours?

I read the discussion....I post my comment....then I read the other comments and sometimes leave comments there as well. If I read the comments first I am less likely to leave my own comment.

And this is why I didn't read your comment first!

That makes sense. I haven't thought of that.

@egdcltd that's how I feel about it. Does it rally matter if all the comments are similar.

Actually, I generally don't, for the same reason that you do - in case someone has published a similar comment. I like to put down my own thoughts before seeing if other people think the same, because there are quite likely to be differences. I'd check the comments afterwards, and maybe comment on some myself.

Like demonstrated in this post. What you are saying makes perfect sense.

No, I always add what seems appropriate to me prior to reading other comments.

Usually I do read the comments before posting mine. However, it depends on the topic too. If the topic is so familiar then I will give my reply before reading the comments. But I read all those after posting mine.

I post first then read the comments. Sometimes I wish I'd done it the other way as I might say the same as a dozen others but I rarely go back and change my comment.

I never changed my post either. Edited for some mistakes maybe but never changed the idea

I read comments of those I follow and those that offer a different view in the discussion. My comments are always base on my opinions and it makes no difference if other readers have similar points of view.

I read a few comments many times; however, don't read all of them. One reason, so I'm not repeating the person that just posted. I realize that some topics are going to have similar answers just because of the question asked by the discussion poster.

That is also why I tend to read the comments first

I do because sometimes I tried to join the discussions between comments. I love invading other people's chit chat and turn it into a three way.....damn the puns sounds weird.

Actually, I do the opposite. I respond first and read all the comments later. I prefer to write my original thoughts and if someone else has the same opinion I can also go on their response and add my comments if I have any.
