Is it Loaded?

On Wednesday afternoon my husband and were driving through Mayberry (Mount Airy) North Carolina. It's a pretty little town that prides itself on being the setting of the Andy Griffith Show.
There are so many nods to the show as you drive through town. You almost expect to see Andy and Barney step out to greet you.
We stopped for a meal at Cracker Barrel. There was a Mount Airy police officer in line waiting for a table.
It was all I could do to keep from asking him if he had his bullet in his gun or in his pocket. (My husband and I have watched every episode of Andy Grifith, and if Barney's gun was loaded he always fired it accidently....so his bullet was kept in his breast pocket.)
A few minutes later another police officer walked in and was seated near us.
Through a fit of giggles I told my husband that there were a least two bullets in the restaurant.
I've added a clip of Barney Fife and his gun....just 10 seconds long.

I have always wanted to stop in Mount Airy on the way to Florida. You can spend the night in the house Andy Griffith grew up in!! lol Yah I bet they do have bullets these days.

It was interesting reading through comments as I am new to what you have said in your post. Anyway were you comfortable with those cops around you?

Yes I was. I have no reason to fear the police.

The Andy Griffith show played for many years. Andy Griffith and Don Knotts work so well together.

@Morleyhunt Matlock was broadcast by the Monte-Carlo TV when we lived there, but not the Andy Griffith show.

We lived in a area of Tennessee near a one horse town called Dandridge...which we referred to as Danberry since it was Marybery-ish to a T

@Morleyhunt Yes, but unfortunately even Dandridge grew up- since it is on the lake new marinas and hotels and sub-divisions have changed it.

I think your phone was correcting your words when you wrote this. The first section almost sounds like you husband and someone else was travelling through Mayberry. I'm so behind in motifs that if you answered my question about which sister I never saw it. I don't know where the older one lives but it looks like your visiting, Joanne, to me. Have fun if you've not already left.

@Morleyhunt In the beginning before you left you said you were about to visit with your sister. I figured maybe you meant Joanne for I knew you two spent a decent amount of time together considering how far apart you are. Course, I don't know how often you spend time with the one that lives closer. We've talked about who's older and who's younger before when either you or Joanne shared an image on the front porch. You may all have been in green dresses but I'm not sure about that.

@MarshaMusselman I don't actually visit my nearby sister very often. We meet regularly when we take my fath to his doctors appointments. We do have plans to join them for a day on their sailboat this summer.

My husband and I did travel through Mount Airy, NC (aka the fictional town of Mayberry).
Yes we are visiting Joanne and have a few days before we head north again. We have an older sister (I'm the middle daughter) who lives about two hours west of me.

This is something I'd be itching to ask too - but I wouldn't!

I'll bet the Mount Airy police officers get asked that question regularly.

We stop there for dinner every time we go to visit my sister. (My husband does not like to arrive just before mealtime)

LOL! I remember the Andy Griffith show and Barney's rather "unskilled" police efforts!

Would you have wondered if the police officer had more than one bullet?

@LindaCPearson I would thinks so, but I'll bet most Mount Airy policeman have been asked that question at least once.

@Morleyhunt Yes. I'm assuming most cops today definitely have more than one bullet ready and available.

Why? Seeing a policeman doesn't make me feel nervous.....read his badge...to serve and to protect.
