R.I.P. Stoner

I thought if I waited long enough, I could do this without tearing up, but it's not really working. We had five cats, and are now down to four. About three months ago, our cat Stoner died. He gave no indication that anything was wrong, he was just sleeping on the bed one day and never woke up. We had Stoner 6 1/2 years. We named him Stoner because after having catnip, he would just sit there, looking like he was stoned. He had picked my girlfriend as his human. She gets up at 4-ish in the morning to visit the bathroom, and every morning he would be waiting for her on the kitchen counter. Even so, he often let me know he wanted affection from me too. We had Stoner cremated. There is a couple that owns a quiet property in the mountains, not far from here. The place that does the cremation scatters the ashes on that property. It seemed perfect for a stoner cat. We miss you, buddy.

I'm sorry that you lost him. It is always so hard. I have two 14 year olds so I'm always bracing myself for heartbreak.

Sorry to hear about this. It is the worse when it is out of no where like that. At least it does not sound like he suffered. That is similar to my dog Tucker. We were taking a nap and and he got up and just kept dry heaving out of nowhere. We had to put him down that very day. It sucks when you lose a great friend.

Sorry mate I had a dog from when I was 2 until I was 20 she was a labrador/alsatian cross. Even 20 years on I still miss that dog...more than likely won't be having another pet unless it is a tortoise or a cactus and I killed my last cactus

@teamfreak16 - It's totally okay and understandable to be sad--I was heartbroken, and I had already known he was going to die for two years (he had cancer). My husband was so devastated he said he doesn't even want to get another cat, but I think he'll be okay. I'm better now, and you will be, too.

It never stops hurting, but it does get easier with time. I still cry when I think about my beloved Guiness the Cat. But Huckleberry the Kitten came along soon after and filled a big void in my life.
