New Job starting Tuesday

New Job starting Tuesday I went for an interview some time back at the local hospital, there were a number of jobs going, one being a porter job, sorry I wouldn’t know what you would call it in any other country, maybe the same job title. The job involves takes patients to x-ray or to anywhere they need to be. I gained the job but had to wait for police clearance, background check seeing I will be working with people young and old. Finally, my clearance came through and I start work on Tuesday. I have two training day this week and another one in just over a week’s time. I’m looking forward to it and it’s not too far from home. I’m going to be even busier than I normally am.

At least this income will be more reliable than your knitting sideline because it is guaranteed income.

@kevin1877uk The time available for knitting will be restricted, but hopefully not enough to stop you managing both.

Lol yeah, Barry it will be, be able to buy even more yarn. Knitting is building and I will smash last year's earnings.

@kevin1877uk ~Congratulations on your new job. The people that you will be dealing with are usually going through a bad period or difficult time in their lives. It takes a special person to do a job like that. I remember once, while at a hospital, an older man had that job. He had a "way about him" where he was able to make the patients feel more at ease.

@kevin1877uk ~Just to be on the safe side, if you don't already, you might want to consider taking a multiple vitamin supplement.

I am absolutely thrilled for you my friend. That is a nice job as I recall the porters when my Mother was in the hospital. They were ever so nice.

Nice, well I know when I was in ER, the nurse took me back and forth to Xray. They didn't have a special person, to run me. I wouldn't mind having a job like that, I hope you enjoy the job very much.

Congratulations I worked in a hospital for years doing a variety of jobs from cleaning to healthcare assistant and then security in A&E and maternity. I loved it Currently I doubt I'd pass the DBS checks

@kevin1877uk I got employed by a hospital with a criminal record. Now I've added to it years later I don't think I'd make it. The DBS people have told me about filtering so arrests without charge may not show up...I'm not bothering for a couple more years

Different hospitals call it different things. I have seen them called valets, concierge, transporter as well as you calling it porter. I have often thought that would be an interesting job.
