Likes , Comments Or Both

I notice that i receive a lot more likes to my discussions than comments in fact , there are many who leave nothing but likes, which tells me although they liked my post, they couldn't think of anything to say about it., which kind of confuses me. if i am interested enough to read your post than 9 out of 10 times ,i will leave a comment unless there are so many replies there's a good chance i would only be repeating what someone has already said So, how about you, do you receive more likes than comments ? and also do you think you comment and like equally on others posts?

Sometimes the comment has already been made by another. Little value in adding "Me too!".

I totally agree with that! if it were my discussion, i wouldn't want to read the same replies over and over again either

You can write, "Seconded". Sounds a bit better.

If I read a discussion I try to leave a comment about it. Sometimes I don't have anything to say. I just like it to let the person know that I read it. For the most part though I do leave a comment.

That's fair, and i think the reason i comment more than just 'like' is the post has to capture my attention , i have to be really interested in the topic then i will do both.

I mostly receive likes *and* comments. It happens occasionally that I only like a post if I can't think of anything to say.

Occasionally, i will only' like' a post as well.but, mostly as i mentioned it's because the post has so many replies my adding something to it would only be repeating what someone else has already said.also getting more 'likes'is just fine with me.

for me, it would be better to have more comments than likes, because interaction happens when a thread starts in a discussion. i had a post with more comments than likes.

i agree since i enjoy the interaction as well. but i guess getting anything positive on your discussions is much better than nothing at all.

@ridingbet Absolutely! i just wish some members would read the guidelines and understand that interaction is what Mylot is all about and not just posting discussions one right after the other

@jujunme that is true, and it means the viewers have something to say about the discussion posted. although there may be contradictions, participation and interaction still makes a discussion viable, right?

I try to always leave a comment and if i like a post i most certainly leave a comment.

I pass by posts i have no interest in since i don't think i can contribute much to the persons discussion so, when you say you ''try to always leave a comment'' do you leave comments on posts you don't necessarily like? that's a pretty nice thing to do

@jujunme No i do skim through and comment those i am intertested in, and those of people i generally like reading, but if i have already read the post i am going to comment before leaving usually.

Well, if someone just likes my comment that's ok with me. However, it's hard to further a discussion in that case. I will always attempt to comment if the post stimulates a thought in me. Sometimes nothing comes to mind, but I still enjoy the post I guess if my posts don't generate a lot of responses I figure the topic was not provocative enough. But, that's ok, I like to share ideas and also inform my readers. Say la vie

Whether it's ''likes'' or comments it still means the reader showed an interest in your post and it could be that even though they liked the topic they just can't think of anything to contribute or what they wanted to say has already been said. Either way, it shows that your post or discussion generated an interest and that's always good

@dgobucks226 Right! and it's funny, but, this post was made months ago and yet it's receiving more comments now than when i first posted it. so you never know if or when someone may show an interest in something you wrote.

@jujunme Agree, you might get a lot of people viewing your post without any of them responding.

@jujunme It is the other way around for me. I receive more comments/responses than likes.

If i don't understand the post i just leave but, everyone has their own way of doing things , it's nice of you to 'like'' a post even if you don't understand it.

If someone takes the time to read and comment on my discussion, i feel i owe the favor in return (of course i would have to be interested in the topic) so, i guess i do the same as you do.

I rarely like without leaving a comment. I might like when I have nothing to say but the writer is a 'friend' of mine. On my own posts I think the numbers are pretty even.

like you,i very rarely leave nothing but likes. if i'm interested in the discussion i will always leave a comment as well as a like. the only time i might just leave a like is when there are lots of replies and if i commented i would most likely be repeating what someone already said.

I rarely write discussions and when I do I normally get more responses than likes. I think the last one was 56 responses 42 likes if I remember rightly. So I have the opposite to you

@Mike197602 i was just kidding ! somehow the rest of my response to you didn't post , i don't mind the 'likes' at all i just feel if someone takes the time to read and like a post, leaving a comment is simple

@jujunme hey no rubbing it in you get more likes than responses...says they like your discussions more than mine and they only respond to mine to disagree...which they do A LOT
