Have you ever paid attention to what specific time your earnings 'update' here?

They update once an hour, but I do not know if everyone updates at the exact same time.
Mine occurs at 15 minutes past the hour exactly (it has changed a few times...originally it was 18 past, and for a bit it was 12 past the hour).
The updates are not 'random' as some members believe...they are tied to an automatic program that is 'timed' to do them at a specific point.
Which brings another point up that @GoAskAlice or @myLotBugs may be able to answer:
If I make a comment or response, and then choose to delete it right after I make it, does the person it was intended for still get paid for it?
It has been my assumption that unless that reply exists when the update is made that the person will not get paid for it...but I have been wrong a few times about things.
Just ask Scar.

I am not so sure anyone deletes comments on my discussions, They just don`t comment at all

Deleting a comment or response right after posting is the same as not having posted at all, as far as earnings are concerned.

@JolietJake Oh of course, I had forgotten about those. It does seem strange that they should even exist.

I've seen a few 'odd' spots where it appears their clocks are off by 30 minutes instead of an hour.

If each time zone were one hour apart, there would be 24 in the world. But several time zones have only 30 and 45 minutes offsets, making the total number worldwide much higher.

I didn't know they updated hourly, I only look up at that corner of my screen a couple times a day. It's 9:50am here right now and 20 minutes ago I had 5 cents less than I do now.
I would think that if a reply is credited then deleted then the credit is deleted, too. That would make for some complicated coding, I suppose, so I don't know how they would do it. Especially since I know nothing about programming and am just guessing according to what I would do in that situation.

If a reply is registered and earnings credited even if the reply is deleted the earnings don't go down.
I delete all my discussions regularly and it doesn't impact my bank.
The only thing I am now thinking of is if I delete a discussion right after I've commented on the last response.
If my comment to them hasn't been registered before I delete the discussion then I think they won't get any money from my comment.

Alex may not know, and Bugsy may not say...not that it is important, just one of those things I get curious about

I don't pay attention to the earnings or the activity numbers which is why I miss a lot of stuff that goes on
I have thought in the past about your point regarding deleting stuff and I think you're right that the post must be there when the update happens so as to earn for the person.
I doubt they would have a system that rewards people for interaction received when the poster has removed it.

I don't really watch my activity rating since I know it will fluctuate. I always lose a few posts each day, some I know will go and some I don't.

@JolietJake I am going to pay more attention to the time I delete discussions.
If I deleted it just after commenting to the last response they may not earn for it if earnings haven't updated which is unfair of me.
I'll be deleting a few hours after the last response in future just to be sure...I hadn't actually thought of that side of things before

@Mile197602 What and when do you delete tings on here? I was always afraid to delete things in case someone wants to reply to something.

Never pay attention much to when they change. I just make a note of how much I had when I got online and how much when I got off.

I don;t know the exact time. It is somewhere between an hour and two. The update time changes occasionally.
And thanks for asking the question, I would like the answer to that myself from the 'power that may be' of myLot.

@JolietJake I got a laugh out of that typo. I thought maybe he knew of some special sins of scar that I'd not heard about yet. That was pretty funny, John. You may be competing with Uncle Joe one of these days. Maybe that's how he got his start?

I would imagine a flag is set somewhere when a comment is made, but not unset or reset when the comment is deleted. The hourly job you see is the job that tots up the flags, applies the relevant tariff to a flag, and updates everyone's running total accordingly (before emptying the flag table ready for the next hour's accumulation...
Broadly speaking, of course.
