...and there is the official word on my question

That question being one I postulated a few days ago about deleted responses/comments and earnings. It appears the tally for them is not counted as soon as they are posted. Not that it was a burden on my mind, or an important thing (to me), but I like knowing as much as I can about how things work here. So getting a word from the Top Dog (or Bug as the case may be) is always a welcome thing. ...and now we know.

Thank you for spreading the word. I have not the habit to delete responses left by myLotters. I only did a couple of times when someone became pretty rude trying to turn a normal discussion into a fight.

@JolietJake It has been my case, some preachers that wanted to add a "religious" touch to one of my discussions.

I've been getting rid of some lately that really don't have anything to do with the discussion.

Coincidental that you post on this subject after the one (and only) time that I ever deleted another member's comment left on a discussion of mine. This member leaves plenty of comments, very few of which make any sense and out of frustration I deleted one of his comments-ooops!

Why I hate deleting things period. It seems like it would play games with Mylot's health support system as a website to live long and prosperous. I post something that is not to par, might be on me. Granted their is exceptions like jackasses but have not experienced it here. I also find deleting posts hurts my fellow mylotters who were brave to comment on a post I am not sure about. Why would I do such a thing. Could hurt their earnings? All tied together and why you do not screw your brethren. Not that I did not do it, just not often. Not saying I will do not do it again, just not often. It is the down fall when earnings are this way, but maybe Mylot was smart and held this into account when they made their rules of how they were going to conduct the payment structure.

Deleting someone's post (your own or someone else's response or comment on your discussion) does NOT affect anyone's earnings in any way. It might, however, be taken as a slight or a snub and be taken personally that you have removed something which someone else may have put some thought and effort into posting.

@JolietJake Indeed and you know the rants I go on I feel guilty for humanity when I do that. My point.

There are times I feel a touch of guilt...not a large one, maybe just a tap on the shoulder...and think I may have been a tad rough on someone, so I delete it.

Oh wow, I do delete in my notifications though I wait for one hour. But seems to me I need to wait for a while day before deleting it.

That makes sense (and I was already aware of it). Until the counting program does its hourly run and tots up the 'points' earned by a discussion, response or comment, it won't makeany difference to the earnings. It will reduce your post count, of course, but only back to where it was before you posted whatever you (or Admin) deleted. Once the counting program has run, however, and earnings have been updated, deleting a discussion, response or comment will affect the post count but it won't affect the earnings. I still haven't heard any official word about those people who report losing a few cents from time to time. There have been too many such reports for them all to be a misreading of the figures but too few for it to be something which happens to everyone. The jury is still out on that one!

You were 'aware' of it, or you thought that was how it likely worked? Appears even Alex wasn't sure. I thought that was how it worked...now I know that is how it works.

@JolietJake I was sure that it worked that way without being told (you might say, perhaps, that I 'guessed correctly'). Had you asked me about it, of course, I would have had to admit that I didn't have the programmer's actual confirmation but I'm confident enough about the way such things work to know that any routine such as that would be very unlikely to work any other way. OK ... not ABSOLUTE certainty

@owlwings Like me in other words...I had told a few users that was how it was, but then I decided that, although I am normally right about most things here, I wanted 'official' word on it.

Tally for them is counted just before the earning updates then, no?

makes me wonder what if they are paid, then you remove do you lose that earning? or say I wait until after we all get paid for last month, then remove everything from last month, do you go in the hole this month? or once it's paid it doesnt get removed, if ever

Once it is paid, it is done with. With my PhredWreck account, I removed all but one discussion...over 300...and didn't lose a penny over it. In fact, I got a surprise payment from that account after I started this one when they did the $1 promo payout for two months...seems after it went 'dormant' a few people still replied to some stuff and it accrued $1.82

The question was if someone got paid for a response/comment if you changed your mind and deleted it after posting and before the hourly earning update

Thanks jj for the information. I never deleted any users comments on my discussions. I never felt the need unless the comments are abusive or irrelevant to the discussion.
