Hang 'em high!

No, I am not talking about a scene in a western movie! I am talking about my hanging baskets. With the bad luck we had the other day trying to buy hanging baskets for the front porch I was ready to give up - almost. We need to go grocery shopping and in a town about 40 minutes from us there is a Kroger and a Lowe's. So off we went where we got much better bargains at Kroger than we get at our usual store (Ingles). Almost every item we bought, 35, had a discount. I don't usually pay attention at least until I look at the receipt. Glad my husband remembered to bring the Kroger card! Then next door to Lowe's where they had a very nice selection of hanging baskets, nicer than the other Lowe's closer to us. I picked up two for the front porch and one for the pool house. I still need one more but I was pleased with the variety and the fact there was no line. We checked out quickly! That is all the running around for today - now to spend some time here on myLot, then I'll go tease the fish some more! What are you up to today? Photo is mine. Look closely at the door and you will see Ruby watching me.

I love shopping at Kroger.. even tho I have to go to the next town over to shop there it's worth it.. I'm pretty much being lazy today unless something comes up.. I know I will be going to the store to get some soda and back home to watch some movies with my hubby.

it it was a regular highway to get there it would be faster, but the only way is two lane back road with lots of curves. But it was worth the ride!

Love your brick home! I see Ruby =) And the flowers are pretty. And totally glad you had your Kroger card (that is Ralphs here) but if you don't you can pin in your phone number. I still dont get why some people don't join the membership its free & they save money!

Well, phone number won't work - we got that card when we first moved to TN (17 years) and we've had several phone numbers since then...I have no clue what it was back then. We keep the Kroger card in the car. Thanks...it's a nice looking home and not quite 6 years old.

I want to buy a few before this weekend for our front porch. Glad you found some that looked decent and had a reasonable price.

I see Ruby and the hanging baskets look so nice. Glad you got those nice deals. The nearest Kroger to us is 45 minutes away. Sometime soon, I should make the drive and see what deals I can find.

We used to shop at Kroger all the time when we lived in Sevierville - it was the only close grocery store. We are used to going 30 mins to Ingles and 55 to Publix. Kroger did stop giving senior discounts.

Thanks, it is a very traditional brick from the outside but the inside is like a log home.

She is normal no more than 1 foot from either of us! But we can't let her in the front or she would be gone in a split second if a leaf blew by.

It wasn't the best angle or time of day to take the photo - I'll have to do new ones in a while...let them fill out a little more.

Your hanging baskets do look very nice and it's nice to see Ruby supervising the whole process. I have a big container on my front porch that I put flowers in but this year I was thinking of doing hanging baskets instead. Yours look so pretty I think you convinced me!!

I like hanging baskets and these have some kind of trailing flower (don't ask the name I threw the tag out!). I just have to be careful and water daily - the afternoon sun right up to sun set is so strong they dry out quickly. One day of non watering and I've killed many hanging baskets.

@AbbyGreenhill hope they continue to flourish and you remember to water them

You have a pretty house. I am of two minds about hanging baskets. When ever this crazy wet Spring quits we'll head back to our semi desert climate so then it will be hard to keep the basket plants watered enough for them to be happy and healthy. Today its raining. I should get out anyway and do more than care for the hens. Otherwise, its laundry and rereading an interview article that I wrote yesterday.

I water them daily - when we go away I put them out by the garden so the neighbor will water them at the same time. The sun is out strong today - beautiful - we have no rain until Mon/Tue. Don't work too hard.

@AbbyGreenhill I try to water our hanging plants often. When and if we get a typical summer, the temps can go above 90 and hang in there for 2 to 3 months. I'm kind of curious to see if we get that dry 2 to 3 months this year. So far we've had damp since before Christmas. Not joking.

I have noticed that at Lowe`s each town has different selection, if its closer to a pricey neighborhood the better the selection.

Hum, the area of the one today was not a 'better neighborhood' - there is nothing much there except I-40. I think different areas get a different selections maybe depending on what was purchases last year. I like what I got so I'm happy.

I bet Ruby was wondering why you were outside and she was not lol. Gotta make sure momma is not doing something fun without her. A good bargain sounds like at the Kroger. We have a Kroger near us but I never shop there. My son works for a big grocery store chain and so I do most of my shopping there as he has stock in the company. Just doing my part.

I hope you get a family discount that's better than making money for the guy who owns the company! We always shopped at Krogers years ago (different home./different area of TN). We might be going back more often now, maybe, maybe not LOL!
