All meat is not created equal, take my word for it!

We looked forward to Easter dinner yesterday - but that turned to disappointment quickly. Oh, it looked good, but that was the end of the joy. The meat was extremely tough. This meat is a Rastelli's product which is sold in their own shop as well as on QVC. They bragged out it during the presentation. It was a special sale price. Well, they can keep their meat from now on. We will stick with Kansas City beef as we've never had a bad steak or prime rib from them. I called QVC this morning to complain. I hated to, but this meat sure didn't live up to the way it was presented. The customer service person I spoke with was very understanding and we will be issued a refund. It proves to me anyway that not all meat is created equal! Photo is mine.

Pretty good that they will give you a refund My hotel has a pretty decent meat supplier and In nearly a year I haven't heard of any complaints about the meat quality. I would prefer if we used organic locally sourced produce but they are always looking at the costs so no chance of that any time soon

We lived in an area that had wonderful restaurants with the best meats. Now that we live in the south we have learned that there are only a few restaurants within an hour that have decent meat....so ordering online has been the saving grace so to speak. We usually get Kansas city but when they presented this the price was about 12 cheaper so we figured, why not? Now we know why LOL!

@AbbyGreenhill for beef I'll always go for local Hereford meat. If not available I look at aberdeen angus as that's normally good too. Maybe you could do a bit of research and find a local farmer who can supply you with meat?

@Mike197602 There is a local outfit we tried. They buy cows from a 'relative' and only butcher one every other month. We tried them two or three times...the meat is all frozen and they cut the steak 1/2 inch thick...not good...it was tough and flavorless. We have found a butcher over an hour 1/2 ride from us and we go maybe every three months....we pay a lot for the meat but it is flavorful w/o any seasonings on it and extremely tender...but they didn't have a prime rib when we were there a few weeks ago.

Shame that your Sunday roast was not up to scratch - yet good that you're able to get a refund, it's the least they could do.

I'm sorry the ham was so tough and disappointing. I'm glad you are getting a refund. Would you like a virtual plate of lamb? I have plenty.

That's great that you got a refund. Too many people won't complain and never get refunds for products they are disappointed in. I have found that compliments are also rewarded, having gotten many coupons and free products for expressing my satisfaction with a product or service. Sorry your Easter meal was partially ruined but I hope the rest of it was delicious!

That's very nice of them to refund. Some company wouldn't care as the meat has been prepared.

Yes, they are a good company. If a product is defective you have to send it back, but food you can't ship back.

They usually do. I had complained once before years ago about Omaha steak, which I never bought after that.

At least you had a refund, it happened several times that the meat I bought in Italy (and paid a lot) was tough. They would laugh at you if you go ask for a refund, even if you bring the meat with you. (I did once).

@AbbyGreenhill The supermarkets here take the packaged food back with no problems. In Italy you can fight as much as you can, they do not take back the food. I can understand the reason, every citizens would eat half of the package and bring back the rest asking for a refund pretending it was not good.

@LadyDuck I only take back 'rotten chicken'......opening a pack of chicken and being knocked over the the smell - ugh....

And it was extremely greasy....I cooked it on a raised grate so it wasn't sitting in the fat...but that's not how they tell you to cook it.
