Picnic day and May flower wreaths!

Today was national holiday in my country and we decided to celebrate with a picnic in the park. The weather was warm and sunny and it was the perfect day to have a picnic. On this day, we traditionally go to the fields to find flowers and weave flower wreaths. This local tradition comes from the ancient years. People make flower wreaths on the first of May to decorate the doors of their houses, as a way to welcome the nature in their homes.

It was a lovely day! We want to plan another picnic soon, before it gets too hot outside! I am sure you must have very beautiful parks in Bunbury! The beach is a great alternative for a picnic too. :)

Hello! It was just me and my boyfriend, but there were so many families around celebrating! I picked yellow and red flowers, they were the most popular in the park. Some people found purple flowers too but I couldn't find any!

It is Labor day here too and it is national holiday! The tradition with the flower wreaths exists from the ancient years and people choose to celebrate in the nature and combine this day with this local tradition!

Yesterday it was the International Labor Day, it was a holiday in many countries around the world. It has rained all the day yesterday and it's still cold here.

Labor Day is international holiday, you are right! This tradition with the flower wreaths is from the ancient years and it is being celebrated on the same day! The nature is beautiful at this time of the year. I hope the warmer days have officially arrived to over there too!

Happy Beltane! Your May day sounds sweet. I used to give flowers to my Mom on this day and she would give some to me. Fun times.

It was a nice day because it reminded me of my childhood years too! We would go at the countryside with my family and pick up flowers for the house! Flowers can make us happy, thank you for sharing this sweet memory of you and your mother!

I did make a flower wreath but it was a small one and I hanged it outside in my balcony! I was watching some people making beautiful large wreaths and they were so good at it! I guess I need more practice.

It is a nice tradition and we loved it since we were little kids in my family! It's a great excuse for picnic and people are motivated to go outside and be in contact with nature.

Let me know if you try it! Picking up flowers is something that we rarely do nowadays so this tradition is a great reminder of our childhood days!
