I saw this image this morning on Pixabay and knew I had to use it in a post. It is a perfect image of what I would like to see while sitting on my very own balcony. I can imagine walking out of my bedroom and settling down in a comfortable chair with a cup of coffee in my hand. Breathing in the life giving salty scent of the sea, hearing the waves crash upon the shore, surely that is a little slice of heaven. It is all firmly implanted in my mind. A wish of mine to live once more by the water. Do you have any place in mind that would be your dream place to live?

I waited my entire career to be able to retire and have a vacation home on the water. We just spent our 4th winter on the Intercostal in Florida. We can see the Atlantic Ocean from our bedroom window. It's a dream come true and I hope yours comes true, too.

I lived around 50 steps from the shore up in the NorthEast. I loved it and will miss it forever, though it does have its disadvantages as far as storms coming in. That is a glorious photo.

I grew up about 50 steps from the beach in south Florida! It was truly a paradise!

@TiarasOceanView The picture is from Pixabay. How lucky you were to be able to live by the sea.

I, too, would like to wake up to a scene like that. But that water has to be in the right place. My husband is from Prince Edward Island on Canada's east coast. Many of his family members have cottages there and my husband wants to retire there. However, out of 12 months in a year there may be 2 months of waking up to warm, sunny weather on that ocean shore. I don't go down every summer simply because I've had more chilly days or mosquito filled nights there. It's just not the most comfortable place for me. I would have to go to the Southern U.S. or further south to find the ideal beach place to wake up to because it would have to be like that year round, not just a couple of months a year.

@HazySue Not sure there is a mosquito free area, though I didn't see ANY in Hawaii. No insects at all there.

Location is absolutely important. I don't want to live somewhere where the temperature scorches you or is so cold you can't enjoy the greater outdoors. I also want a mosquito free are, if that is possible.

I had a plan to live on the water in SC - but the fear of strong storms and hurricanes scared me from that plan. I see water when I look out the window - the pool and the pond...that's enough.

The pond would be enough. I feel that water is calming to me. I don't have to have an ocean, just water.

@HazySue Yes, it is calming but the pool is move calming!

I like living in the bush. I could live by a river or lake but I'm not fussed about living by the sea. Your image looks idyllic though.

I have been to the shore a few times in my days and sure enjoyed it. My dream place to live would be up in the mountains by a lake or brook. That would be nice.

I definitely wouldn't mind waking up every morning to a beautiful view of the ocean, and falling asleep every night to the sound of the waves! Reminds me of my childhood days of growing up on the beach in south Florida. But these days, I would really like to live someplace cold, like up on the mountains or something!

I a torn between the two locations but id do believe I would be content to live in the mountains next to a lake.

I wouldn't mind the place in the picture, too. I stayed at a hotel once and our room was right by the water. I could hear the fog horn at night and see the light from the lighthouse. It was so peaceful going to sleep with the sound of the waves outside.

It does seem to have a calming effect. We used to live on Black Lake in upstate New York. The lap of the water on the shore would lull us to sleep every night.
