Just One More Thing

Today is the day my missus and I go to the college to bring our youngest son home now that he's finished his junior year of college. Actually, we aren't going up there to bring him back. He has his own vehicle. We are going up to bring back the things that won't fit into his vehicle.
In preparation for his homecoming, my wife decided we needed to do a big shopping excursion to Sam's Club and Target this morning. To bribe me to go along, she cooked me a breakfast of bacon and eggs. When we got there, found out why she needed me along. There were several heavy - over 20 pound/10 kilogram - items on her list. Included were 2 42 pound bags of cat litter, a 20 pound bag of cat food, and 2 20 pound bags of garden soil.
At Target, all her items were lightweight and I was able to enjoy a visit to Starbucks where I finished the first draft of what I hope will be my seventh book.
When we got home from shopping we put everything away. Then my missus suggested - wife speak for commanded - we clean the house. I chose to clean the floors. It was then she informed me that the vacuum's filters needed to be cleaned before I started using it.
So I cleaned the filters, reassembled the vacuum, and vacuumed both downstairs and upstairs. I also swept and mopped the kitchen. My missus cleaned the bathrooms.
I though I was done and ready to sit down and relax for a while until it was time to leave to get our son. I should have known better.
"Just one more thing," my missus said with a guilty smile. "Could you go ahead and dust the living room?"
Again, this was a command, not a request. I fussed a little and told her this better be the only "Just one more thing."
It won't be, but for the moment I am sitting, trying to relax, and anticipating with irritated expectation the next "Just one more thing."
How is your Saturday going so far?

'Just one more thing' is always an omenous line - used to like it in Colombo when he'd say that right before proving the identity of the killer

@DWDavis not just women, a lot of men use the same tactic

@arthurchappell True, but knowing a man is thinking doesn't give me pause. When a man says, "Hey, dude, watch this," then I worry, and usually duck.

Wish I could get my husband to do some chores like that... but he's smart and works 2 jobs so he's never home. Instead I fight with the kids over having to do stuff.

@DWDavis I suppose when we get to that point hubby will no longer need 2 jobs so he will be around to help more!

You are a good man! I have never had a man clean house for me before, maybe make dinner but not clean house.

I don't think the bacon and eggs breakfast was sufficient bribery.

I cannot get hubby to help with house chores, ever. He puts his laundry in and then hogs the dryer (wasting electricity) so they will not wrinkle until he wants to hang them, or until I give up and hang them. He is parts chasing for cars, although he did lift potting soil for me.

You are a treasure my friend.
Your wife is blessed is all I can say haha
Saturday is quiet here, my place small, so not that much to do.
I hope your trip to help your son come home goes well and that you will get some time to relax and finish up that book.

@DWDavis Aw, I wish you could do as you prefer DW. Less space to me is fine too.

My Saturday is about over here in Latvia. We did some weeding in the garden today and some laundry. Tomorrow I have to tackle the housework. My hubby usually does not like to participate so I always have a lot on hand to do. You are good to help out.

Just doing a little cleaning. It's voluntary, though.
