Last night we went to our small local theatre in Donnybrook, Western Australia, to enjoy a performance of a locally written Murder Mystery Night. It was a dinner performance and each table was invited to put forward their view as to who was the murderer.
We were given a complimentary wine on arrival and sat down to soup and roast pork. We then watched the first act of the play before having apple crumble and custard. We’ve been to quite a few performances here and they are always enjoyable.
This one had a rock and roll these and old 78 records were well to the fore. All in all, a fun night. The photo is from a previous performance and is taken from the stage.

I've never actually been to one but our hotel has them very regularly...I generally hate them as it is a very busy night for me
We've got a big conference/party/wedding room and that gets set up for around 80-100 guests to have a 3 course dinner.
There are also actors randomly sat on various tables and then someone gets killed and it goes from there.
They are pretty popular and each one has a different theme and the majority of the guests come dressed up according to the theme.

@Mike197602 They ran one once at a conference but there were way too many people for it to be effective. They did have actors but some guests got bored or couldn't hear/follow and then started chatting among themselves.

The company that runs the mystery bit had forgotten to book them...it was not a good night for the front of house people

I think it would be fun to go to one of those events. The closest thing to that I have been is Shear Madness at the Kennedy Center in DC. It was kind of a whodunit, and the play changed every night and the killer was always someone different.

I think this one might be the same as the murderer was judged by the tables with the character with the majority of votes winning (or losing).

That sounds like so much fun. I see things like that in our area occasionally, but haven't had the chance to go to one yet.
Next weekend I will go to murder mystery theater, but dinner will not be served. It is my son's spring play.. and he plays the character that gets murdered!

@JudyEv Sure will.. I think if it were a smaller role they'd have given it to someone else. He is fairly talented and they've been giving him decent roles even though he's still very young.

I hope you enjoy it even if there is no meal. I hope your son doesn't get murdered in the first five minutes although I guess the murder happens fairly early in the play.

@changjiangzhibin89 It is fun. There were eight at our table and we were all trying to give our opinions.
