For Over Fifty Years

For more than fifty years, I have helped the guys in my life with cars. Most specifically, I remember being about eight years old and helping my dad bleed the brakes on the Ford pick up. It was a funny dark green that was so common then. I had no idea what I was doing, but I was with dad and that was enough. We are working on cars this weekend here at home. The more cars you have, the more they need. Specifically, my car needed to have the brakes bled. I still do not really know what I am doing, but I can pump the brakes. I can be with my husband. It is enough. Now we are going to go for a drive. Hope you are having a happy Mother's Day.

It's good you can do this yourself, to have those little car works done it's pretty expensive.

Yes, it is. We have a mechanic who gives us a good rate, but many places it costs $80 per book hour--that is how long the mechanic books say a job takes.

Good for you! I took a powder puff mechanics class once. I did work on my car once, with help from a friend. He over saw my work.

We drove over to the closest lake and learned about putting our canoe on the water here. We also drove out to a near by small town I had never been too.

Yes, the more cars you have, the more they need is right! We often spend time on cars/trucks, etc....things with wheels, wheels and more wheels.

Best thing you can do is be with those men and help in whatever way they need. I think it sounds wonderful!

I know the basics, I could do an oil change and sort out a flat , I also would know if the engine was missing ,things like that but other than what some of the parts are called ,under the bonnet is a mystery to me.

@shebish I know what things are, but not really much beyond that. I had to check oil etc. when I drove bus.
