Hi all I do hope everyone is having a wonderful day. So we had an incident here yesterday that was so funny and nothing I have ever seen before and I just had to tell you guys about it. Let me start by saying that my husband and I are retired and while we love it, there are days when life is just simply boring. Despite the desire to retire and having no one telling you what to do and when to do it, there are days when you have nothing going on. I get tired of the internet, music, and tv. I have never been one to sit and watch tv for hours on end but some days that's all there is to do. Dinner is cooked, the house is clean, heck my hubby gets so bored some days, he barely lets dirty clothes hit the basket before he has them in the washer. So anyway my husband and I are die hard Chicago Cubs fans and the game was on yesterday afternoon. My hubby was a bit hungry so decided to have some hard boiled eggs. He put them on to boil and continued to watch the game. I wasn't moving from the couch as I was doing some research about the commercials they show during a baseball. All in fun nothing official, ( more on my findings in a post a few days from now ), so I had to watch all the commercials. I mentioned his eggs to him and he said he would get them after the Cubs batted. Well that inning went a bit long and he didn't get to the eggs. All of a sudden we heard this fairly loud pop. And yes you guessed it he boiled them dry and one of the two eggs popped open. All over the kitchen, and what a smell. There was egg on the floor, egg on the stove, egg on the table and egg on the counter tops. What a mess. All I could do was laugh while he cleaned up the mess. And it wasn't the easiest task ever. First he tried to sweep the floor, well that didn't work, you can sweep egg shells but the white of the egg doesn't sweep well, so on his hands and knees to get the rest of the egg off the floor. Then he cleaned everything else and washed the kitchen floor. Needless to say he missed some of the game. We had to open all the windows as the smell of those burnt eggs was not a pleasing smell. It was so funny I had to text our son who lives in Michigan to tell on his dad lol. Today I think I will insist he go fishing. Photo from Pixabay

That sounds really comical, glad it was him and not me cleaning that mess up off of the floor.

Yup I didn't help him clean the mess, it was his mess so he cleaned. Next time I'm hoping there won't be a next time.

I once got so stressed out I threw a pear across the room and it smashed against the wall and went everywhere. It was also not an easy clean up task.. in fact I don't think I ever fully cleaned it up!

@fishtiger58 Oh this was forever ago.. when the twins were newborns and my husband was working 2 jobs and I had no help what so ever! I don't really get quite that stressed out anymore. Kids are still stressful, but it's different now because I can sleep through the night and they don't really cry so much, LOL! Now it's just moody teenage attitudes, and all I can do is roll my eyes and remember that it doesn't last forever.

@Marilynda1225 Oh man that stinks, it's plenty of work just coloring the easter eggs without adding cleaning up a mess like that to the mix.

I have never heard of that happening before but I can just imagine the smell. One of my exes was a graphic artist and he spent lots of time being creative with all sorts of art projects. One Easter he saw something online about putting a small hole in the bottom of an eggshell and draining the egg and then using the shell as a canvas. He painted 2 dozen empty egg shells. They were beautiful and sat in a pretty wicker basket that I decorated with a bow. He made them a few weeks before Easter. They lasted until after Easter. I noticed a horrible smell one day and I searched the house over trying to find this smell. It turned out to be the eggs. They were pretty but I guess he did not clean them out so well.

I've had to clean up exploded boiled eggs too. Egad. Believe me, I let that happen only once. Well, with eggs, that is. (I've burned other food, I confess. But nothing else has exploded, thank goodness.)

That is funny. I did the same thing not too long ago. Only I was writing, not watching TV and forgot all about my eggs. I only heard them start to sizzle, so I didn't have them all over everywhere when they popped. Good idea to insist he go fishing.
