How does the "randomness factor" affect you?

When I wake up in the morning, I can never tell what kind of mood I'm going to be in once I'm fully conscious. Optimistic? Depressed? Productive? Lazy? It's that darned "randomness factor."
When I post on MyLot, I can never tell whether I'm going to get lots of reads, and funny comments/conversations, or thirteen reads and a few obligatory comments. Randomness factor again.
What made me think of this was the speaker surface I did yesterday. It's a Dynaco A-25 single I bought for $40 to go with one I already have. When I finally oiled one surface, it turned out beautiful. But rats!--it's a bottom. Some surfaces look just "nice" when done. Others (like this one) have really interesting and beautiful grain.
When do you encounter the "randomness factor"? Is it your mood for that day? Your spouse's mood? Whether you feel like writing or don't? Whether the traffic lights are mostly green or mostly red? Do you have a name for what I call the "randomness factor"?

Nearly everything is random except me. I learned a technique from a motivational speaker years ago that changed my life. When I wake up in the morning I first thank God for another day then I tell myself it's going to be a wonderful day. If anyone asks me how I am I tell them I'm great. If the weather is bad (here, bad is sunny) I remind myself that the cacti love it. If I have a task I don't want to do I say a prayer of thanks that I'm able to do it even though I don't want to. It's all positive thinking and it eventually takes the randomness from my day and replaces it with good.
We certainly can't control the random events and people in our lives and we wouldn't want to because then life would be really boring. But we can control the way we react and feel and turn the negative into the positive. I have lost some of that in the past few months so I thank you for reminding me of this very valuable tool that I can use to make my life even better.

I agree that attitude is more important than what's happening externally. I thank both sunshine and rain on behalf of the plants I grow. I thank God for giving me music and kid mojo. And parking mojo too. Though my stoplight mojo isn't so hot. All kidding aside, gratitude and optimism do trump what's happening "out there."

@TheHorse Isn't is strange how the smallest things make our day better? I have been finding great parking spaces recently and every time I smile and say thank you even though I'm quite sure that God has better things to do than finding me a good space. He might hear me and say what the heck, she really thinks I had time to arrange that?!
Who knows? Yes, optimism is the key to good living these days and does trump all the negativity!

So you oiled the bottom instead of the top? hmmm
Well yes some of day depends on how others are feeling shall we say.
I am generally the same each day, you can set a clock by me.

Y'know, since I started praying, meditating, and Prozac I find that I prefer the "randomness factor" of the day. It's better to feel the day is unique than to feel that I can just switch on auto-pilot and do the zombie dance through the day, not paying any attention to it.

Praying is fine...but I can only devote a few moments to it. I am simply not the nun like ..and I can't say lord you suffered for me...because if he did, I would not have any problems and my life would be as much of fun as a three year girl child forever. So I always have my list ready...look can you do this for me...including helping my friends...and I do ask him to prove that he exists by fulfilling my wishes...sometimes he does, other times he is lazy...that is one type of randomness I guess. LOL

Hmm, never thought about the randomness factor. I know within five minutes of getting up whether I should have just stayed in bed and done a do over. I wanted to do that yesterday. My knees just didn't want to work yesterday and staying in bed and vegging out seemed like a good thing. I got up anyway.

So, even though your brain knew what you needed you ignored the poor, underutilized thing anyway? How will it ever learn to stretch and grow if you ignore it all the time, Valerie? (grinning and teasing you!)

@TheHorse Sounds like you're getting ready for that time off. You just need your apartment size fridge next to your bed and you won't need to get up to do anything except hit the bathroom once in a while. Is your TV close by? How about your remote?

I usually get up in good mood. Only when a grave problem was eating my head the previous day or night my mood is bad...actually it is not bad at the start..when I become conscious and recall the problem..it becomes bad. So you could say it is kinda dress I wear, and now you have made me aware...I can choose not to think about the problem...or defer it..I CAN CHOOSE..ha ha. Thank you for making me aware of it.

Like when you buy a container of strawberries and all those you can see are perfect, but the ones under those perfect berries are rotten!
I usually start in a good mood, but if my husband says one silly thing that makes no sense I'm off and running my mouth LOL and it's all downhill from there!
randomnes factor is life

I pretty much know I will have a productive day most days. I am far from lazy and I refuse to let an illness stop me, even pain, I am an optimist and its rare I allow myself to get depressed because I work with depressed people, people who are dying .....BUT I refuse to allow them to die on my watch!
Old habits of schedules are hard to break but I am learning, with the work I am doing now most day are the random type, due to how they feel.
Another thing I have learned and that is to turn off all the ringers of the phones so I do not get that 7 am call that is a telemarketer, after being up all night with a sick man. Make my day happier.

I feel like --
It's randomness which makes you smile when you look at a situation which reminds you about your past.
Another one - Well for example you are asked to take out a note out of a opaque box full of 10 dollars and only one 100 dollar and you get a 100 dollars.
I don't know why any one will think of randomness, when you know you can chose what you want to be! Situations can't be on your way always but yeah, I have a choice to avoid it

I have depression and schizophrenia so the randomness factor is always around. I can't push myself doing things I don't like and feel the way it doesn't work, so everyday I am going with randomness.

For me it is who the heck knows. I wake up and it all depends on how demanding my cat is right away and what kind of mood my hubby is in and only then I can determine how the day will start. If things get a bit hairy then my escape is right online and getting emerged in my work and listening to some music or some movie I love.
