Maybe you've read or saw on the news about our wonderful Governor Chris Christie longing on the beach with his family over the holiday weekend. The Governor was photographed soaking up the sun while taxpayers were excluded from the state park due to a government shutdown. Legislators could not agree on the state budget proposed by Christie so non-essential services were shut down, until budget agreement could be reached. This left holiday vacationing New Jerseyians and out of state visitors excluded from the park and its services. Businessess who rely on this revenue were hurt, fisherman could not access the beach, and taxpayers who paid for a season pass were out of luck. When asked about his being the only one with access to the park and beach, our Governor replied, "If you want to use the park, run for Governor." With an approval rating currently at 17 percent, that may not have been the best thing to say.

All of that is true - but - and he's an idiot - but.....that's only a small section of the Jersey shore and there were lots and lots more sand and surf beaches any visitor could use . Six months and let's see who runs the state.

His brother had a beach house not to far away. People bought season passes for $100 to use the park. They were turning away tourists and residents. The state's economy depends on summer tourism. He should of made sure he got a consensus to get his budget passed. It was a big deal to a lot of people vacationing on a holiday while he sat his behind on the beach!!!

@AbbyGreenhill That was a good move Abby, our property taxes are through the roof and they just raised our gas tax 23 cents. Sadly, our next Governor will be just as bad! Thanks for responding, have a great July 4th!

When I first heard of him way back around 2010 I thought he was refreshingly brash and honest. But he quickly showed himself as the jerk he is. This latest stunt is disgusting. Why do the voters keep electing him?! What a loudmouth jackwagon. I don't care which party someone belongs to, a jerk is a jerk is a JERK!!

@dgobucks226 I didn't hear about this but wow....Just wow. Though, I'm not surprised. People in this career field really have to prove that they mean well and want to do good for others. I don't care or trust what they say. Their actions speak louder. And usually, it's them just doing whatever they can to better their own lives rather than trying to help those who are struggling.

@dgobucks226 lol If you did move to Australia then prepare yourself to be confused. Prime Ministers here change so often that majority of Aussies literally can't keep up with who is Prime Minister at the time. And they are usually no better than your ex-Governor.

Yes Dani! He was a real phony He started out with good intentions, but got to caught up in the power of the office, his own ego, self-importance and doing what was good for him (like getting re-elected) than what was good for the people of our state. Glad he is gone but the Governor we have now may turn out to be worse I need to move to Australia

He's an arrogant snob who for a very long time had his constituents fooled into thinking he was a breath of fresh air., when all along he was looking out for number one . i feel so bad for those season pass holders , the jerk should reimburse every one of them

I think he had a perfect right to use the beach in front of the home he gets as governor, seriously, everyone else with a beach front home was using theirs. I don't usually agree with politicians but this time, the reporter was looking to start trouble and since Christy isn't running again, I say you go Governor and happy birthday to his son.

I don't think he could get elected dog catcher in this state. Not that there is anything wrong with that job

Seems he is on his way out so I guess he might as well soak up the sun while he still can. And he was caught lying about it too.

Yes, at this point in his now defunct political career he might as well, since it's always been about him anyway!

I've heard about it on the news. I feel sorry for those NJ beach-goers who would miss the beach this summer.

People don't live around the corner! They can't get helicoptered to the beach like our Governor does. Visitors plans were ruined, yet he made sure his plans were not interrupted, geez... Sorry, its just some people!
