An old shot from the late 1980s. Mom and I went to Ruidoso NM often just to get away, actually, she was the one who wanted to get away I would have been happy to stay home on my short weekends. Mom loved to feed birds, any kind of birds and I loved taking pictures so I'd go with her so she'd be happy. Look how happy that one goose is, I think she was signaling to others that she found a human sap. I'm afraid of geese how about you, have you ever fed them?

Geese are mean. They have long, snake necks and they are apt to snap you with that beak. I have finally learned to be okay with chickens but for sure not geese. Our nearest neighbors have a pack of geese. They are very very loud and every time they see us go down the driveway, they zip out in a pack to squawk- thank God for fences.

@rebelann The neighbor geese are so loud. They sound hysterical and like they are after something....

The goose is indeed happy, spreading its wings like that. I won't bother going closer to these geese.

I wouldn't either, I have a healthy respect for geese.

She was fearless @jobelbojel and it seems the geese knew that.

Geese can be quite dangerous at times, but I would still feed them.

I wouldn't feed them but oddly enough none of them bit her, they just wanted the bread

I don't see many here either probably because there are no lakes close by. I can't recall actually seeing any until we began to go to Ruidoso when I was about 13 but usually they weren't this close.
