Poor lonesome guy

No, not General James B. McPherson. He gets lots of visitors at the park. Three times yesterday, as well as at least two times in the past, I have received messages on Facebook that had a warning. The warning was not to accept Jayden someone or other if I received a friend request from him. According to the message he has software that will allow him access to all of my friends and all of their personal data if I do. I have received this warning from at least three different parts of the country, yesterday. I do not ever send any message on to all my contacts, but a lot of you are on that list, so just be warned. Meanwhile, I am hopeful that some of you wise people like @jj or @owlwings or @Asylum will tell me what this guy would gain or how he would do it. What I really want to know is what the person who originated this bogus warning will gain from all of us forwarding this message to all of our contacts? So guys, and gals, let me just say "be careful who you add as friends on Facebook". Heavens, even some of the legitimate ones can be pretty odd. This has been a public service announcement from me and General James Birdseye McPherson.

I guess it is just a hoax all the way around. I have seen some other discussions about it. This is a real person, or possibly several real people and they have been given a hard time over something they know nothing about.

I don´t add any more except for close Family and that is very rare. I don´t respond to the chat anymore either as a lot of junk is put in there and its not from friends as they have told me so.

It is true that you have to be careful who you add on Facebook and if I add someone and they turn out weird I just block them.

I have added one or two weird ones there in the past. I do the same, or remove them. I have had one or two weird ones here.

@GardenGerty I have not had any problems with anyone on this site so far and have not had to remove anyone from here.

I received the same message on FB and what I did I sent a message to the FB support center to let them know. It's easy to do this and people should do this more often if there are doubts that someone is an hacker or a cheater.

Anna that is a very good point. It would not get blown so out of proportion, then.

I just had two of them this morning. I ignore them. I have no clue why they do this and to stay away from those messages is the best way to go.

Since announcements have been put out telling people it is a hoax I have not gotten any more. There is one person I know from other online sites a few years ago that sends me all kinds of junk, to "please forward" or "like and share". She is an intelligent and educated person, and I have no idea why she does this forward bit. It is not smart.

@GardenGerty Educated does not mean street smart. I had a friend back home in NJ who was MENSA - VERY VERY smart - no common sense at all.

They are doing that again. I had this happen about a year ago.I don't add anyone to my friend's list unless I know them.

I have had it in the past as well. This is the furthest I have seen it go though. In the past it was sometimes people who might not be well versed in the internet and might believe everything they read, but this time it included some very intelligent, educated friends of mine.

I once friended someone who was on a friend list of a close friend. I saw that when the request came through. He was PROBABLY a foreign guy trolling for lonely women. She said she had never heard of him when I told her about his "come on". So I quickly unfriended him.

@GardenGerty I have also got that warning from facebook friends. This was quite awhile ago and I forgot what they said. These are people I trust and believe in when they say something. I made sure I never came across that person and was lucky did not.

The person in question never tried to connect, but I got messages recently from "Facebook User" and blocked him just in case.
