How do you usually eat your pizza?

July 12, 2017 2:49pm CST
At first, this may sound like a silly question... But depending on the country, the way you choose to eat your pizza can be considered a big (and real) insult. For example, a friend of mine who recently arrived in Italy found himself in an [i]"atypical"[i] situation because he decided to eat his pizza with ketchup. He ended up learning that in Italy most people always eat the pizza with olive oil. And you, how do you eat yours? Have you experienced any unusual situation because of this?

I went to Italy and it seems there people eat pizza with a fork and a knife rather than with their hands. I think it tastes better when eating with the hands... It actually felt rather weird eating my pizza with a knife and a fork. And I've never had an actual thin pie to enjoy. Here I always get a slice or two. There they serve a whole pie to a person. Also depends where you go I guess. Some places do serve slices. I never put ketchup on my pizza or olive oil for that matter. I prefer lots of cheese and basil... But if I make my own pizza I can sometimes drizzle some olive oil on top of it.

@sabtraversa I am a huge fan of thin sliced pizza. And the pies in Italy are not as huge as here in the states so eating one pie is actually not as much of a challenge for me. One thing that I found in Italy is that no matter how hungry you may be for a pizza, if it's siesta time restaurants won't serve you. And it doesn't matter how big of a crowd comes into the restaurant. Happened with a tour I was with. They turned us away because it was siesta time and our group was big. Guess they didn't care much for making money of tourists...

@sabtraversa But it was during siesta. No one will serve no matter how big the crowd. I forget which city it was in though, but probably holds true no matter what city you are in.

I have eaten pizza both ways. It just depends on how big the slice is and sometimes how hot it is. To me it doesn't matter how I eat it so long as it makes it into my mouth. lol

I don't add ketchup or any condiments or additions to pizza once it's out of the oven.

Me either, and I can't imagine any reason I would need to.

I love pizzas. I am a pizza fan. I eat them with various kinds of dips, like having nachos.

I usually don't like to put anything on my pizza, nor do I ever feel the need to. It's pizza. It needs nothing to make it better. It is already good. lol

Anchovies, cheese, tomato, black olive and sometimes mushroom with thin crust. How I eat it is with my hands.

I come from the province of Quebec and when I was living there, we used to eat our pizza with a knife and a fork. Here in Ontario, most people eat pizza with their hands.

Did the man's pizza have tomato sauce on it already when he slurped catsup on it? I love pizza that has white sauce on it and pesto sauce is good on pizza crust, too.

It always depends on my mood on how I eat my pizza. Sometimes I just eat it regular and just pick it up and bit it. Sometimes I scrape the topping off, eat the crust first, them mix ranch into the topping and eat it with a fork. Sometimes I dip it in ranch or ketchup and eat it. I have never eaten it with fork and knife thought but I know some people do.
