2 Guys Building A Driveway

My missus decided our driveway was too narrow and too short. I hired someone to make it wider and longer. Wow, that's a short discussion. Let me expand on the issue. My missus and I have decided to commit more fully to the RV lifestyle. To do so we need two things. First, we need a bigger pickup truck than we have now. Our Tacoma, as much as we like it, doesn't have the pulling power we need. Second, we want a camper with a bit more room and no tent-style fold outs. Last week we learned tent-style foldouts are not the thing to have in hot weather. In order to accommodate the larger vehicles, our driveway needs to be expanded, both in width between the road and the house and in length along side the house. I hired a local contractor to make the changes. He seems to be doing a very thorough job. Next, before either the truck or the camper gets replaced, I will be hiring someone to trim back the branches overhanging the driveway. Wouldn't it be nice if sales of my new book went exceptionally well and helped me pay for all this home improvement?

Yes, that would be great. Are you doing enough promotion ?

I'm not sure I ever do enough promotion. I am seeking as many inexpensive venues as I can.

Yes it would be nice DW. Good the guy you hired is doing it right though. So a new truck, a proper RV and a new driveway to put it all in. Sounds great but yes, a lot of moolah for sure.

The moolah consideration is why we're taking it one small step at a time. First the driveway. In a while the truck. Then, eventually, the camper.

Any sort of building work costs an arm and a leg, doesn't it? Good luck with your book

This fellow's quote was much lower than any other and I've seen his work. The next lowest anyone wanted was 30% higher than him.

We've been wanting to widen our drive for ages. Needing it for the camper pushed us to get it done.

Home improvements are definitely a huge expense, including new driveways, of which we put in a couple of years ago. Hope your new book pays for everything!

It would be great if the book sells that well. I won't hold my breath, though. It won't be long before your Ice Princess is old enough to enjoy my books.

@DianneN Seventh or eighth grade is about right for youngsters to start reading them, though a lot of 6th graders at my old school liked the books.

@DWDavis I'll bet she'd enjoy them now, but we will wait for a bit.

What you need is to write the next Harry Potter or Twilight ... then you can have a drive big enough for a thousand RVs! What are you waiting for?!

I'm waiting to hit the big time until I retire from teaching, LOL. My new principal threatened me with bodily harm if I land a rich-and-famous contract and leave before she retires.
