So I took the camera out front for a moment to catch the cicadas singing for someone that didn't know what they were. And I uploaded it to YouTube so I could show it to them and was going to tell them there weren't any cicadas visible, but you can hear them. And I'll be danged if while I was playing it back to check it, one actually flies past the top of the screen about 24 seconds into the video!

It can! I'm so glad the ones around here never sing too long after the sun goes down. It's bad enough listening to them during the day.

Some people say that the noise would drive them crazy, but I would miss it if it was gone. It would be far too quiet, although to be honest most times I do not hear them unless I am paying attention, because it is noise that I am used to hearing.

What an interesting sound. Once in a while we get crickets here but I can't recall ever hearing this before. Thanks.

In the area of France that we were in a day or two ago the cicadas were chanting up a real storm. Well done on getting the photo.
