And This Is What We Saw!

I was walking missy Daisy today and saw these beauties. So decided to take photos and share them with ya'all. My Grandmother had them in her garden when I was young. I thought they were magical fairy tale birds that froze in sunlight and would come to life at night. These "Birds of Paradise" always take me back to those fanciful thoughts. I was a little sad to discover they were not birds at that young age, but they are such an exotic plant they still fascinate me! Then these shrubs with red and purple beauties on them also caught my eye! And I took photos of them too! And this is what Daisy and I saw on our walk today! I hope you enjoy these photos and I  hope everyone is having a lovely and calm Sunday and weekend. The "Birds of Paradise" are the photos on the top and the shrubs are the photos at the bottom.

The red one looks like Bleeding heart and I do love Birds of Paradise, it is too cold for them here where we live but I saw gorgeous ones in Bermuda last year.

Beautiful flowers, whether viewed in person or in photos, always seems to brighten a mood! It's been storming all day here in my part of Florida, and so it's been really dreary outside. Just looking at your photo of the flowers brought a little cheer to my soul!

@bluesa Thanks Catherine! Unfortunately, it looks like the bad weather is here to stay for at least a few more days. But I always try to look for the good in things, so I don't let all the rain depress me. Besides, I can just come look at your photo of the beautiful flowers to cheer me up!

@Hannihar , missy Daisy is a long legged toy Pomeranian, we got her from a friend who asked us to take her because two big dogs kept attacking her, she is a joy to me and my family. I will try to send you a picture of her tomorrow

I have seen "Birds of Paradise" in beautiful colors in the city. I have something similar looking to the shrubs on the bottom right, but the flowers are white instead of purple.

I took some pic of those birds of paradise flowers from a neighbor who was about to bulldoze his place (but don't know where the photos are now). Mine has some tinges of orange in them, yours seem to be pure yellow. Fascinating. (Unless my memory plays tricks on me?)

Lovely plants! I have been looking at perennials that I can plant in our garden beds. Our neighbor's gardens are gorgeous. He puts the my gardens to shame.

@antonbunot , hello there kind sir . I think the weather in Canada is too cold for them. I see many say they have them in California and on certain Islands and then there are many here by me, warmer climes. :)
