The bowl pictured here may not be crystal and might not even be worth more than the dollar that we paid for it in a thrift store, but we like it! Not being experts about such things, this and some other crystal items and more will be taken to a local antique dealer for an opinion. While she will also say she is not the expert on such things, she will know more than we do. The last thing we need here is some more crystal bowls or doo-dads of any sort. This will be sold on eBay or gifted to someone, somewhere along the way. Have you purchased items similar to this crystal bowl in a thrift store?

I inherited my mother's crystal, and do like yours, but I'm overstocked. I don't shop a thrift stores, however I've heard of many good finds there.

We are overstocked too @DianneN but will sell this one if it is what we think it is. It feels really heavy, which we know is a good sign.

I never purchased, but I have a couple that came from my grandmother home. My mother loved to buy crystal bowls, glasses and other objects, she has many items in her house.

That is why we like this @LadyDuck It reminds of of things we have now from grandparents and other older family members.

The Hospice Thrift Store, as you probably know, is filled with items family members donate when a loved-one die or has to give up their home @mom210 We have watched a few homes being emptied out by such thrift stores b/c the family did not want what was there!

@PatZAnthony I guess it just goes back to that old saying one person trash is another person treasure. We love going to yard sales just for that reason. You never know what somebody wants rid of that we might want.

I've seen similar things in thrift stores around here, but they never have the weight that my mother's crystal bowls used to have. And yet, they are still very pretty!

This is very heavy, but has a seem that we understand means it was made after a certain time (1900 or later perhaps) so we will see @CRK109

I have some as gifts here (from 2 - 3 decades ago). They take a lot of room, so even if & when (which is very often) I got tempted to buy some from thrift stores, I tried to tell myself not to (they sell real crystal stuff, very beautiful, each for about $3-9 each).

Hum, I guess not since I don't go to thrift shops. I have enough things like that from my mother and grandmother to fill two china cabinets.

@PatZAnthony We all buy things we don't need LOL. I gave up yard sales and such since I'm at the age I figure it's time to rid some of it.

Not me, as I received dishes when relatives passed away. I rarely visit thrift stores now, as I'm getting rid of items to organize my house.
