Do you like to eat spicy food?

Many of us love to eat spicy food. However, once you have taken spicy food you feel need to sooth your mouth because of burning sensation which you feel on your tongue. Do you take water to sooth your mouth or do you take some sweets to calm down the burning sensation of spicy food? If you take water it does not immediately help you get relief from the sensation, it in fact could aggravate the problem. Consuming some sweets/desserts or milk products could be a better remedy to pacify yourself. If you do not take any of the above things, it means that you have strong will power to bear the burning sensation after eating spicy food. Is it so?

I don't take spicy foods. But yeah, occasionally, if I get a craving. And I agree water cannot relieve the burning sensation after having spicy foods. Milk, curd, yogurt, buttermilk (plain), or whey could help in cases of burning sensations.
How are you today, sir?(*_*)/"!

Ideally speaking it is better not to take spicy food. I think you adopt the right method to sooth your mouth after having spicy food as you take milk or milk products. If by chance you are outside and these products are not available, what would your next option.
I am doing fine. How about you?
PS - You could skip to address me as Sir, as I feel all are equal here.

@shikharava It means that as you avoid taking spicy food, you do not have to look for options to sooth your mouth after taking spicy food.
I did not know that blue moon appears once in a while.
Hope you are doing well.

Ideally speaking we all should avoid spicy food, as it does more harm than good. It is wiser on your part to take yogurt after eating spicy food. If by chance yogurt is not available, what will be your next option?

@Nawsheen I know that you like ice cream and to get an opportunity to eat ice cream, you will first eat spicy food then would go for ice cream.
Sugar is the last and easiest option, which none of us would miss to use in case of problem with spicy food.

For me it means I chose only moderately spicy food. I do find that milk and/or creamy foods are the most soothing, like cheese. The oils in creamy foods dilute the spicy oils that burn your mouth.

It is good to hear that you take moderately spicy food and if you feel burning sensation you go for milk or creamy food. I have no idea if consuming cheese also help sooth our mouth because cheese is already salty.
You are very right that oil in creamy food dilute the burning sensation.

I can tolerate very spicy foods if that what is on the table, I like it if I have a choice although I don't necessarily look for it. If the burning sensation becomes too hard to bare, milk is the best remedy, not water.

It sounds interesting that you could bear spicy food and if it is available on the dining table, you may go for it. Yes, you are right that instead of taking water, milk would be better option to sooth our mouth after consuming spicy food.

@Bodyandbrain - If you take water it could aggravate the burning sensation, it would be better to take some dairy product or even some sugar to sooth our mouth

I do love spicy foods, but these days my stomach cannot seem to handle it anymore. So I don't eat super spicy foods anymore . . . and so my tongue has forgotten how to handle super spicy foods. But I will still eat mildly spicy . . . and no need for me to drink/eat anything with it to calm the effects . . . if it's that bad, I won't eat it at all. Normal water drinking with that kind of a meal is fine

It is better that you do not take spicy food anymore, as you cannot withstand it as of now.
. It is wiser on your part to take mildly spiced food so as not to feel uncomfortable after taking food.

@much2say If you miss spicy food, you could take it once in a while.
I like to have mildly spicy food. If it has lots of spices e.g. black pepper, red chilies or green chilies and I happen to eat it, hiccups start.

I love spicy foods. I always would put hot sauce on my burger to make it hot. And when I order two pieces of fried chicken in a fast food, it is always the spicy variety.
No, I don't drink water. I just let it be in my mouth and eat a little rice to tame it if it is too spicy.
Though, it has to be not very spicy.

Yes, you are very right that water does not help after spicy food, it in fact could aggravate the intensity of burning sensation. It is better to take warm tea or any milk product after consuming spicy food.

I love spicy food... It's either I'd prepare my food spicy or put hot sauce on it. My family don't like spicy food, so if we're together, I'd just eat chilies instead of mixing it to my food...

In my country everywhere has different taste. Some like spicy food and some like salty food etc. In my city we prefer to light flavor food and we don't have much salty and spicy food. But the people in my city are famous for eating. We like to try different food and therefore I like spicy food although it is not our local food.

Yes I like spicy food , but not love it, because it all depends on the variety of sources and their type. For example black pepper is a spice, and good for throat. Also without salt, all spicy food will taste sour, but I prefer sendha namak or black salt rather than table salt which is commonly used in market.
