The earliest ever!

My kids are way past the elementary and high school stage. So, I have stopped paying attention to when the County starts school, but I did over hear some in town saying that the schools in this County start on August 3rd! That is the earliest they have ever started! When my first son was in elementary school, the schools started around the last week of August. Then when my second son was in school, the schools in this County would start mid August. I did read that here in Georgia , 3 Counties more near Atlanta, started the new year yesterday, July 31st!

That is way early to start school. I think it is way too early. Personally I think the actual school years is too long. They can make it much more efficient.

@LeaPea2417 Well, we need new leadership here in America. Maybe then things will start to find their place and things could finally work out for everyone. Even the schools.

As a former teacher, I find that ridiculous!!! Children are away at summer camp and families travel. It must be so hot in Georgia, too.

I agree. Families take trips and when the schools start so early, it makes it harder to travel and do the summer camps.

@LeaPea2417 NYC public schools always start after Labor Day and end the last Wednesday in June. My granddaughter had to cut the last few days of school to get to camp.

@kingspride It is just how it all use to be throughout the country. Now half the country starts later and the other half starts earlier. It is just what I was use to.

Some schools started last week. They give them so many days off during the year they have to start earlier.

In Australia, the 'long' holidays are also in summer but start just before Christmas. Students go back early in February.

My school normally started in the second week of august. But it has changed. Most schools are kind of changing into year around schools. where there are more week long breaks instead of just big gaps. Which is odd and also costs a lot of money but the education system is terrible anyway and doesn't make much sense anymore.
