Making religious statements/responses/comments on discussions that have nothing to do with religion...

There's a time and a place for everything, they say.
Conversely, there are times and places NOT for some things.
Now, I personally don't care what anyone's religious affiliation is.
I don't mind talking about religion in appropriate settings.
If I start a discussion based on religion then I would expect people to state their belief structure or what have you.
But to be extremely blunt about it, it is more than a bit rude to come preaching at me in a discussion having nothing to do with God or Buddha or Allah or The Flying Spaghetti Monster.
And I will remove your responses/comments and pretend we are in the National Football League and block you.
Nothing against you personally, or your beliefs...but if I want to know about them, that's what I'll be talking about.

I feel different. I really do not mind. While I'm not sure if this is about a conversation someone is having with me that veers off into a discussion of if God is a he or she, I am quite enjoying it. One thing leads to another in most conversations and it can be quite fun to see the twists and turns. To me, conversations in real life do kind of happen like that. You start on one thing and end up on another. What I like about Mylot is that we can talk freely about stuff and be ourselves. I have real life friends who go off on a tangent and it is only a bit of an answer to a discussion that you can just ignore or like or engage with. If it got offensive, then I would just delete it or if it was innapropriate because of the serious nature of a topic I might get annoyed, but in the end, there is a way to ignore people if you have to.

There's a small difference between 'veering off' and totally ignoring the discussion posted and posting a response about how you need to worship God because He is the one and only answer when the discussion is about what you had for supper, just to give an example.
Now, maybe if I was eating bacon, and their religion forbid pork, I could understand them bringing religion into it.

CLAP HANDS. I am more than annoyed to find religious comments on discussions that are not religious at all and starting from now, I think I am also going to delete all those who praise God, Allah or whatever, if the post is nor a religious post.

@MALUSE I fully agree, it seems that Muslims respect a lot more and they do not mention the name of Allah in vain, think that also Christian should do with the name of God. For what I can remember it was one of the 10 Commandments, at least this was written in the Italian version. "Non nominare il nome di Dio invano" (Do not mention the name of God in vain". Most preachers here have never read the basics of Christianity.

What did I do now?
I must learn how to respond to others without saying in a nice Southern belle sort of way " Well, Bless your heart" Is that religious? blessing your heart? Some say its a smart mouth way of saying ....
Now I hope you know I have a song stuck in my head By Jewel - What if God was one of us.
That`s all I got to say about that ( Forest Gump)

I was always taught that in polite company you never discuss religion or politics. I pretty much adhere to that principle because I have strong beliefs and don't particularly care for people that make fun of my beliefs or try to force their beliefs upon me. Having an opinion is one thing, however badgering is entirely different. I have often found that people who insist on bringing religion into everything are the ones that have failed in themselves.

I have to agree. I don't talk about religion and try very hard not to about politics too. I have a very strong opinion on both and so I try real hard to keep my opinions to myself.

I don't believe in preaching to or being preached at - unless I'm in church and this is no church. I don not read or comment on religious posts or politics and I like it that way.
