Pressure cooker, convenient or a hassle?

My hubby had bought a pressure cooker for me last year after he had seen me boiling soup for hours that is wasting gas, energy and time.
He had read lots of reviews, read up surveys and made a conclusion that I needed a pressure cooker to cut down the time on boiling soups in the kitchen. Sometimes, boiling soup in the pot would overflow or dry up instead!
The picture shown is my pressure cooker that requires a gas stove, the conventional type to boil any type of soups in just 20-30minutes instead of 1-2 hours.
Yesterday, I had boiled mung bean soup with sweet potatoes in this pressure cooker for 30minutes instead of 1 hour. Saved 30 minutes of gas.
What do you think, is pressure cooker a convenient tool in the kitchen or a hassle because it is larger than a soup pot ?

I couldn´t cook without my pressure cooker. I cook some dry legumes (after soaking them overnight) for 10 to 15 minutes and then it is just a thing of adding diced fried onions with some spices. And that´s all. I also use it for casseroles when I use tougher meat. I cook it 30 minutes and then, soft and cooked, I can add the other ingredients.

I like pressure cookers, but not for soups. I think soups taste better when cooked the long way, especially since you cannot taste test while it is cooking in the pressure cooker.I do like the pressure cooker for cooking potatoes and other veggies that take time.

@peachpurple I cook all kinds of stews and meats...Potatoes do not take that long to cook unless they are whole. If you cut them up about half an inch size they can cook in just 15 minutes on a rapid boil. However a good soup or stew is not boiled rapidly it is simmered. If your husband objects to the gas usage, try your soups in a crockpot.

We are never without a pressure cooker, it speeds up things like boiling, meat, corn on the cob, sweet potatoes, etc..we have 3 different sizes cause they had become much cheaper now, the down side is it's aluminum so we can't use it on the induction cooker and still needs our gas stove. I probably would get a smaller size if I would use it for soup but it depends.

My mother gave me her conventional old-school pressure cooker a couple of years ago but I was afraid to use it. My mother-in-law bought me an Instant Pot which is an electric pressure cooker and I just love it. It cooks everything so quickly. Now, I won't use it for something that should be slowly simmered on a day that I have the time to do that, but it is great for making meals in a hurry!
