A Gift of Time

Well, my daughter in law forgot that we were going to treat them to ice cream on my birthday. She is the one who usually remembers. She took her two daughters to Wichita so the oldest could get her eyebrows colored for a late birthday gift for her, since school is starting. My son was available to meet the rest of us for icecream, though and that was great. We hung out on his porch afterwards and waited for "his girls" to get home. So here is a picture of me, with my two kids. For my birthday my daughter has taken the time to drive six hundred miles to be with me, and we are trying to tear down old cabinets in half my kitchen.

She was here for four days. Her intent was to stay longer, but I had to work and the little ones were really missing their own home.

@GardenGerty How sad you had to work, a longer stay would have been so nice.

Nice photo. You will enjoy improvements to your kitchen long after your company has left.

Oh, we did not get finished. . . too well made. I need my husband to exert some muscle. On the other hand, my daughter worked with me to get a few small but annoying things done around here as well.

How nice to have kids who think of us on our birthday. That is the day we are given to have that attention. Did you get the cabinets torn down?

Sometimes it does not happen, but this year I had such a bad summer, my daughter wanted to come and make me feel good. I do not see her kids often enough.

It is great. Of course I think the world of them. I probably do not tell them often enough, though.

@GardenGerty And with us, we say it multiple times each time we see our son, and even last weekend, we were talking about it with our son's future mother-in-law, and our son said that we talk about it fairly often, and she smiled and said, I know, I see it and hear it with you and my daughter too. We don't just say it, we mean it when we say that we love each other, and those words do come easily to us.

She worked hard on the cabinets, but they did not want to come down intact, as I wanted them. We went on to do a lot of other chores. I will just take sledge hammer and crowbar to the cabinets. We had no injuries, so that was nice.

So, when is your birthday? No, I would never want to be 21 again. I have earned these gray hairs and the wisdom and experience that goes with them.

@GardenGerty mine is 31/7... No, I don't think I want to be 21 again... It means that I have to start everything all over again.. When I go out with my old friends, I can't get use children's menu because I'm too old and I can't use senior's menu because I'm not there yet...
