Have you seen a mirror pool?

While in Bordeaux, @topffer took us to the ‘mirror pool’. I think it might be the biggest in Europe but perhaps topffer will correct me if I’m wrong. It was a first for us and very interesting. As it was such a hot day there were many people getting a little relief from the heat by paddling around. When we passed that way again later, there was a mist being pushed up from the surface but of course that didn’t allow the ‘mirror’ effect to be so evident.

@topffer I have not seen the place personally, but I saw a documentary on TV. You remember the places better when you have seen personally.

This is very big, the only one I remember is the Mirror Pool in the Alhambra of Granada (Spain), it's beautiful.

It is all the Alhambra which is beautiful, a kind of little paradise out of earth.

@LadyDuck You are not picky, it is another place where I can retire if the king of Spain offers me a room there.

I'm not sure I've sen a mirror pool, but reflective ponds are naturally occurring.

This is man-made of course and very shallow. Natural ones would be lovely too.

I've not seen one in person, I've seen the reflective pool for our Washington Memorial in pictures and movies.

The surface is constantly being sprayed with water?

From time to time there is all this mist rising off the water. I'm not sure how they create it but there doesn't seem to be any mechanism spraying it.

It looked funny with all the mist coming off it. At first I thought it was steam.

Oh that's unusual. I have seen the one at the Alhambra, and pictures of the ones at the Taj Mahal, but usually people do not walk in them.

@JudyEv you've probably seen one without realising that it was called a mirror pool - just about everyone has seen that classic view of the Taj Mahal
