I haven't been sleeping well for about six months, and I wasn't sure what to do. I haven't taken a sleeping pill since my early twenties when Ambien had me "sleep driving". It took 2 1/2 pills to work, and it scared me too much to take any again. I also took the natural supplement Melatonin (aids sleep) years ago and it did nothing. However, I am tired of no sleep. I reasoned that our bodies reactions to supplements change over the years, and Melatonin might work. So, yesterday when I went to the grocery store I picked up some Melatonin from the vitamins and supplements section. After I got home I thought it might take a while to work on me, if it in fact it did work. So I took it three hours before I was ready for sleep. Big mistake! Something has changed because I was fighting off sleep like never before. Have you ever underestimated a medication, vitamin, or supplement? Have you ever taken Melatonin?

I never take anything to sleep because don't need but why don't you go to see a doctor?

I did see a doctor. That's how I got the Ambien which I mentioned in my post. You cannot get that without a doctor. I have seen many doctors, and they have tried many sleeping pills.

I have taken melatonin, and it gives me very vivid dreams. It does not usually act really fast for me, but it does help. I try not to take it all the time. I have read that it is also helpful for people who get heartburn. One friend on here says that if you take it all the time your body quits producing its own. Online they encourage taking it regularly. I do not know who to believe.

The bottle says if you take it two months straight you should wait a week before taking it again. I plan on maybe taking it twice a week. I don't like things "making" me sleepy. But if I took it often like the bottle says it probably wouldn't work as well.

I've tried Melatonin without any success either, I found that I would have a very fitful sleep and not restful at all. What I do find helpful is a light supper, not too close to my bedtime, and then no screen, television or computer the last 60 to 90 minutes of my day, that seems to relax me and I fall into a deep and longer sleep then.

Cutting out the electronics would probably help me tremendously.

Because of Fibromyalgia, I took one muscle relaxer Flexeril at bedtime for many years until it finally quit working. Now I take an over the counter sleeping pill and so far, it works. I only use Ambian when we trave because it scares me too!l

I've never had problems with sleeping, thank God, so have not taken Melatonin. My food is my natural vitamin. I believe your food should be healthy enough to be your medicine and vitamin as well.

I took Melatonin for a while in my 20s. It helped for a little bit but then I think I became immune to it because it quit working.

nope i don't take any of those, including the vitamins, I prefer to exclude them unless required. Lack of sleep, what I did was toss and turn until the next morning and pray to God, it helps sometimes

I have tried many things to help with sleep. Now a lot of my sleep issues either have to do with my being Diabetic or when I am stressed. But Melatonin is a good one to help people relax. And many can sleep on it. Natural is always better than something a doctor would prescribe.

I'm finding just turning off the computer is helping more than any pill. Its hard to believe I'm sleeping better now.

I didn't take it last night because apparently I slept so hard I clenched my jaw enough to wake up with a migraine. I'll have to figure something out. I don't blame you for being scared because people do crazy things out of nowhere and don't remember doing it. I drove in my sleep, and one of my aunts cut off all of her hair while on the same medicine.
