So how did that happen and why?

After seeing the cardiologist, Bob was told to call the nurse, Sherri, on Monday and schedule the catheterization procedure, but she called him on Thursday before that. They discussed when he could do it, and she agreed on October 6 at 2 pm. Saturday we got a letter stating he was having it today. With no time given for it. He kept trying to call the nurse and leave a message, but no response. Tuesday the hospital called with his admission information, for today, and left a message. We could never get through the busy circuits to let Myla know he was not coming today. I finally got information about another clinic in this practice and called the nurse, Sherri, and left a message, with Bob's and my cell phone. Sherri says she does not know why he got that letter and why they should be calling him. Her name was on the letter as the person to contact. That does not mean she sent it. So Bob is having his procedure October 6, as planned.

What a crazy mix up. I hate that we can't get through to the doctor without jumping through hoops.

@RubyHawk This doctor works out of three clinics and a major hospital. He actually called personally one night and gave us a direct number.

@GardenGerty Thst is unusual. Doctors don't usually give their personal phone number.

I wonder whether that letter was meant for a different patient and someone lost focus when making it out for it surely is very weird.

The letter was for the original date he was offered and refused. Someone thought they were being efficient and mailed it before they checked if he could make it that day.

Wow what is up with that. Someone else posted about a mix up with some doc appointment. Don't these people get paid for this you would think they could get it all right.

@fishtiger58 We will see what scheduling looks like for the pacemaker. Part of the problem is most of the patients have quit working or are too ill to work. They are having to deal with a working couple here and it is different.

You gotta love medical stress. How ironic they stress out the heart patient.

Seems like medical offices are chaotic and not all on the same page these days. I once had something similar happen. I got called out of the blue one day by a clinic I had never been to reminding me of a procedure I knew nothing about with a doctor I had never even met. I knew a doctor had put in a referral for the procedure but I had never been contacted about it prior to being told it was scheduled the next day. I already had surgery scheduled the following week to take care of the issue, so I told them I wouldn't be coming in since I had been given no prior notice and it was pointless anyway. (It was an ultrasound to monitor a cyst I was already having removed.) Sometimes the way the medical profession works nowadays is so frustrating. Glad you got it all straightened out though.

Yes, it might be nice to take the wishes of the patient in to consideration.

Finally having seen how busy the whole team is, I can see what is happening. They are trying to give good service and get patients in quickly. My sister had a horrible long wait with no acknowledgement from another cardiologist.

That was what happened first. Bob had to wait to see this cardiologist, then after seeing him was told to follow up in two months, but was not allowed to make the appointment. He was told insurance would not let them even make the appointment for at least two months, and it turned out to be three. Thankfully when he had questions and an issue early on he could at least get in to his primary physician. I hope you guys get this all straightened out.

Well, at least that got figured out! Also good that he didn't miss getting the procedure due to the mixup.

No, it was actually reversed and they were trying to rush things.
