Been Dragging After Supper, So Brewed Coffee and Now I'm Good to Go, (and Business Update)

Finally, I had two new people work with me today and we got a lot done. A gal from where I cashier agreed to work part-time with me doing windows when she wasn't cashiering. I informed her that I'd pay under the table until spring and when she told her husband he decided he would work with us after all.
I had talked with him about it a few weeks ago when he was picking her up after work. He didn't seem at all interested at the time, but I think he was planning on getting some other work more easily. Even though he's put applications into many places he's yet to hear from any of them.
I'd forgotten that his wife told me he has experience from cleaning windows down in Florida. He did an amazing job for a first day and we got two extra jobs done than what I thought we would when the day began.
I usually have one or two cups of coffee before leaving the house, but today I had to get gas and a few more supplies before they showed up at my house, so I didn't have any coffee then at all. After supper tonight which was Gorton's fish plus potatoes, I was ready for a nap. But, I don't have time for a nap as I have to call customers for tomorrow and next week too.
I had the leftover coffee from this morning and brewed a few more cups. All it took was one more cup and now I'm wide awake. I usually try not to have any after six pm so I can sleep at night, but I'm hopeful that I'll be tired enough from working in chilly weather that it won't keep me awake when I am ready to hit the pillow.
I hope this guy stays with us even if he's able to pick up another part-time position. Getting another job is fine with me as we don't work after the first of the year other than a few monthlys, or at least not until it warms up again around April. He's tall and can handle the ladder easily which is a blessing since it means I don't have to babysit him while he's working to make sure he doesn't run into any windows or something.
Now, to get caught up with all our customers that have been waiting before it gets too cold to work.
(my picture has nothing to do with this post, maybe I'll share about it one day in the future).

@MarshaMusselman I am sorry for your foot, surely it's not a pleasure to wear an Unna Boot, Mom has to wear one, but she says she has no pain.
It's hard to find good workers, I hope he sticks around for a long time.

@LadyDuck It's been bothering me all night sitting at my computer, but I just discovered that if I keep my feet flat against the floor instead of sitting with my feet out, it doesn't bother my foot at all.
I have a sore underneath my ankle on the inside of my foot just above the sole, but it's been hurting and uncomfortable in several places. I'm hopeful that I can get it redone tomorrow rather than on monday.
Before I went in to see them it was till bothering me. This way at least it should heal faster.

I actually slept quite well considering I had the coffee so late. I was kept awake somewhat since I'm wearing an Unna Boot on my foot again, and that foot was giving me grief, but the caffeine wasn't bothering me at all.
I'm glad I finally found someone too and we got several jobs done in the last two days. Come to find out he's done windows before but down in Florida. He's quite conscientious and makes sure he looks each window over more than once to catch anything missed, yet he's not slower than molasses. I'm hoping he enjoys the work and sticks around even if he gets another part time job.

And, you're able to sleep after drinking it so late at night? I used to be able to drink it anytime and have it help me stay awake when needed, but I could also sleep when needed too. As I've gotten older that has changed and I try to stay away from most caffeine products after six pm just to be sure.
I'm glad i was able to drink it the other day and still sleep at night.

So glad you got some experienced help to knock out some of those jobs! Coffee does not seem to bother me as far as keeping me up. I can drink it at night with no problems.

@MarshaMusselman I honestly think that something has changed with my system. In the past, if I drank coffee later in the day I would stay awake but now, it's not a problem.
When my oldest son was in middle school (he is now 28) his best friend was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder along with Hyperactivity Disorder. He was on Ridilan and his doctor told his mom to give him coffee. The caffeine in the coffee would calm down his hyperactivity. I did see this in action. She made sure he had a cup of coffee without sugar every morning before school. If not, he normally got sent home or got in school suspension.

When you get older that could change. I never expected to have any problems drinking it later at night since I could do it myself before I hit fifty or so.

Thanks, done drinking coffee for tonight otherwise, i may not sleep at all and that wouldn't be too much fun. I still have one more person to call tonight and then it may be too late to do more.

@lookatdesktop Well, part of the reason I didn' opt for coffee today was that we were doing mostly outside work and I didn't want to have to stop to a gas station too often to use their facilities. At least tomorrow morning we're doing in and out and that won't be an issue until we go elsewhere to get work done.

Thanks. So far, so good. The younger generation can change their mind about things quicker than we would, so we'll see how it pans out. Had the guy agreed to work for us when I first approached him possibly he'd have another part-time job for the evenings now. I put in a good word for him where I work because he's a great worker. I like it when people can get something for the winter months that will work around my schedule a bit and since I know all the managers and I also know how he could put in and change his availability as the seasons change, it would be a great place for him, but they are at the end of their hiring for the years and I'm not sure whether he will squeak in or not.
(I thought I'd reply now as I don't know whether I'll be back again before tomorrow. Hope you're doing well, Paige).

Thanks, I hope so too. I'm not sure why he didn't want to work when I first talked to him about it. It may be that he's afraid of heights and wanted to get a job on the ground. Even though he is afraid of heights, he was still willing to do some extra high work when he lived in Florida. Normally, he said that they had him do one to two story jobs, but this one time he was cleaning a railing and he was up seventeen stories. I think maybe he was standing inside the railing on a balcony, but I wouldn't want that job either and I don't mind heights overall.

No choice on that until we can get ahead with bills. Unless I don't care about ever retiring.

Hope the new workers continue to stay with you until after the holidays. I love coffee but have to switch to decaf once the afternoon hits or I'll never fall asleep.

I used to only or mostly drink decaf which is what my husband drinks, but now that my oldest daughter moved back home she likes coffee each day, so I enjoy one or two cups too. I used to be able to drink it anytime no matter how late it was and still fall asleep and stay asleep, but in recent years that has changed, so I generally stay away from the caffeine after six pm. I'm glad i was able to drink it the day here, without any ill effects.

I'm glad you have more help to work on the windows. I'm also glad he has experience so you don't need to babysit him while he's on the ladder.
I'm glad you were able to get the extra work and get it done. I know that's a blessing for you and will help you in the long run when you're unable to work outside due to the weather.

Thank you, Valerie. All of that is my sentiments exactly. I don't know yet if he handles an extension ladder as well as he does a twelve foot, but I think he will be better than other guys I've had in the past. After working two days last week, he told his wife that he was glad he began with us. He didn't expect to enjoy himself for some reason.
I'm hoping he will also get hired where I work as a stocker later in the day. They will work around the hours I'd need him and that would mean he wouldn't leave to find a more permanent job with more hours instead.

When I was younger I could drink coffee and other caffeinated drinks late without having problems, but I've had to change that in recent years.
Even then, I can't always get to sleep when I want but that's mostly because I think too much about the next day's jobs.

@MarshaMusselman My mind races away sometimes too. I've taken to practising my French. I count to 100 in French then go through the days of the week and the month then do it all backwards. I may not be sleeping much but my French is getting better!

Because of my picture? That is something set up at a customer's home, which I took a few months ago and planned on sharing about then but never did. Maybe sometime down the road. It's pretty cool what it's for.

We are way behind schedule with our business. We usually work straight through October and though it was a gorgeous month, and quite warm, I had to work myself, alone. So i didn't accomplish as much as I could have with some help.
Business has been a bit weird since June of this year when it flooded in our area. Many of our customers were dealing with that for a change and opted out of having the normal work done. We always have regulars, though in the fall and they've been waiting and hoping we get someone that stays with us so they can get their houses ready for winter.
At least we can keep many of them happy now and get a bit caught up. Some people got tired of waiting, though, and have already cancelled.
