A surprise visitor! How is your saturday going?

I've had a surprise visitor this past week. I thought my sunflowers were done, but I was greeted earlier in the week by this little fella, who decided to make an appearance before Winter comes and turns all of the sunflower plants brown. I'm sort of relaxing this morning, working on a new wood project on my balcony and coming in to write the last two progress notes I have to do for this past week. Later in the afternoon, I'll hit the pool with some papers to grade from my Monday evening class. How is your Saturday shaping up?

Great day. My husband and I made sand angels for charity and then had the worlds best pizza for lunch. No complaints here.

I still have quite a lot of colour in my garden, mainly from the red salvias. It's now Sunday here .

Shaping up to be a sober one, thanks to the clocks falling back here at 2am BST on Sunday morning, when the hands roll back an hour to 1am GMT.

@TheHorse Next Sunday, November 5th, at 2am. Coincidentally, Guy Fawkes Night in England: "Remember, remember, the 5th of November - gunpowder, treason and plot... "

It's Sunday and I've been turning leaves over hoping they'll dry a bit so we can burn them tomorrow. We only have two days left before the burning season closes.

Cool that you have a burning season. I doubt we do here in California. I burn stuff up in Montana.

@JudyEv Is the growth around your place "low" enough that it would be safe?

@TheHorse We've reduced a lot of litter round the house. Hopefully if we get a bushfire our place will be that much safer.

Thanks, Valerie. I took a picture of my work right next to the sunflower, but I'll save that for another post. The shelves I'm working on (for a friend) will have nice grain and color!

A lovely fall surprise. I am relaxing but have to drag myself out to do a mystery shop for supper. Not feeling like it.

@TheHorse 1. I select an assignnent off a job board (usually). 2. Read the directions. 3. Visit the location and make the observations. 4. Submit the report. Get paid 30 to 60 days later. Pretty much every chain is mystery shopped. Gas stations, grocery stores, other retail shops are my favourite.

It's pretty cold here in Michigan, but I've had a good day. Walked Kobe, of course. Your sunflower is beautiful and pretty brave, if you ask me! Oh I'm sorry, you did not ask for my 2 cents worth:( What are you making, with your woodworking project? We once built a waterbed, which turned out really nice.

Heh. I have two projects going: a pair of Dynaco A-40XLs, which are vintage loudspeakers (and for which I'll make $150 or so) and a bookshelf that a friend bought for $100 (it's worth $400). He wants me to make them purdy and already paid me $100 just to get started. Woo hoo!

@TheHorse Good grief, that's a nice amount, doing something you enjoy! Here's a picture of our (not a water-bed any more) headboard we built together. My husband is extremely talented, I just do what I'm instructed with these projects.

It's been stormy here today but not too bad. Went to both nearby general stores and got some good deals as well as a gallon of real unpasteurized milk so that was pretty neat. Now I'm watching a movie..
