...and with the advent of colder weather, here they come. This is technically a Camel cricket, although some people also call it a spider cricket (because of the legs) and a cave cricket (because they like dark damp places). There are probably close to a dozen different 'types' in the family this belongs to, of which I think the classification should be changed to 'Crickitus Uglyus' Scar would probably think they make great toys, but they aren't made very good and tend to fall apart after playing with for a bit. This one got Raided...it was back behind some wires and I didn't want to miss.

Quality control issues? Wonder if consumer courts would accept cases. Best solution is find a Chinese cat for his highness. After he is done with playing, the quality rejects will get cooked in Chinese concoctions and well, nothing will really be a waste.

Oh! I`ve never seen one like that before I`m sure Scar enjoyed hopping and playing with it not realizing that she`s in a nervous state from breaking the whole body

We have several types of crickets here...the ugliest are probably the mole crickets

Shrill cihirrups of a cricket in the house got us out of our beds one night many years ago. The bastid was behind the fridge, in the warm... Shelltox rather than Raid, but same idea.

I'm not entirely sure these make the 'call' of regular crickets...I have a friend that can imitate the call quite good...used to drive people nuts when he'd start doing it because he could 'throw' his voice

@JolietJake Cicadas have to be the ugliest ones. Thankfully, they tend not to come indoors, unless blown in by the wind..

I wasn't very impressed when one hopped on my leg as I was 'taking care of business' in the bathroom last year

I've only ever seen the standard black ones. That one looks a little tiger-striped. And don't ya know, crickets in the house are good luck?

I will send my friend's 14 year old and her baby tarantula over to help. FIsh the tarantula will help take care of any bug problems you may have JJ.

I have only seen the regular black ones and being from down south the story is that it is bad luck to kill a cricket in the house.

Why do you get all the critters I've never seen before? We get crickets, but this guy's got super long legs . . . reminds me of those aliens drinking coughee in Men In Black:

Those remind me of the creatures who use to be in my parents basement before they called the Exterminator. That was many years ago.
