Wonder what caused them to be more entitled today?

@NJChicaa I hear that all the time and have seen this also! The home becomes a hangout for partying and the mother is there allowing it...

Teens mature a lot faster now, but many of them have almost no common sense, whatsoever.

@dgobucks226 They grow up faster, but they are definitely not mature.

@dgobucks226 , jaded, they walk around with information we never had and not all of it good. I sometimes feel that they know too much too soon.

@bluesa Oh I see, yes, yes, absolutely true and terrifically stated. Like your word jaded, exactly!

Interesting way to look at it? Not sure what your definition of world weary would be? Is it more stressed?

@dgobucks226 I think being accountable is a big one. Too many don't want to take responsibility for their actions.

I agree. Sometimes I feel they are being protected and sheltered away from responsibility and accountability for their actions.

@JudyEv I agree with that! It seems teens always have excuses instead of accepting what happens...

Probably depends on the teen. My homeschooled 13-year-old is more responsible than other girls her age. Heck, she's more responsible than I was at that age!
My brother wasn't fully "mature" until his mid-twenties. And I have a cousin who's close to 40 now, whose never grown up. She prefers to be "babied" by her mom and mooches off her and my great grandma.

@dgobucks226
By mature do you mean more responsible or physically mature, as in they hit puberty faster?

@Genipher Both...as maturity is not limited by definition to just physical.

Yes, individual differences always seem to play a role in most discussions. I wonder on a whole, if teens have matured more than the previous generations and if so in what ways?

Yes, there is so much information available to them from so many different sources. It can make them knowledgeable beyond their years.

I don`t know but maybe because of more technologies or way of discovering things available for them now than before
During my time internet is about to start but not too much affordable or available to everyone

That is true. The internet has played a role in teens maturing so quickly today.

I haven't noticed a very big difference in maturity in terms of attitude, at least in my community. But I think youngsters today are exposed to more things than my generation was (mainly because of Internet and technology) so in that sense yes maybe they are slightly more mature.

Yes, I would have to agree. There is so much access to information today and it is at their fingertips. Pardon the internet pun.

I think teens are more mature during the old days; unlike today when they can be so careless about their safety, etc.

Very immature. I think they are in for a rude awakening, personally.

They seem to try to grow up so fast instead of enjoying being a kid to me? Plenty of time to be an adult!
