Can Emoticons be as comments/responses?

I noticed a couple of days back there was certain response I've received from my last post, that were nothing more than emoticons. As far as I remember it I got it twice. Not sure how would I feel about it because emoticons can also express your feelings to the post.
But I thought about it maybe I appreciate the one liner response more, I mean the emoticon thing was like a short cut now.
In my opinion if they don't have really anything to say, then don't respond to it.

I only add just an emoticon after a long series of answers and comments. but if I have nothing to say, I either pass or I place a "like" if I like it.

Hello @marguicha I do the same specially if I couldn't have much expression on my comments or even post. But I never forget to hit like on the post.

Hello @magallon I agree that it shows some extra emotional support for the comment or post you make.

Hello @sjvg1976 well, I don't get quite what the person was saying when they're just putting an emoticon, meaning i don't know how would i respond back

I don't mind getting emoticons after a long or series of replies.

Hello @jobelbojel nothing wrong with emoticons unless there's some words that's added in the comment.

As the one and only response, I don't really see it as appropriate. But if you've already started interacting by exchanging a few comments with each other, then I wouldn't mind.

Hello @cahaya1983 Maybe I was just over reacting but I wonder why it had to be just an emoticon because I wouldn't know how to respond back to it.

@Letranknight2015 I'd acknowledge it by liking the comment.

It is was responding to a comment after they made a comment and you replied back, it is fine. But if it was just a response to your post, that isn't good. I don't even think that is allowed, or if it is, it shouldn't be. If someone has nothing to say, they can just like the post and move on.

Hello @DesirousDreamer Yes that's exactly the response to my post. I hope I'm not over reacting because people might imitate that if they see them making only their response. as for me I just move on when ever I don't get the post.

@Letranknight2015 You are not overreacting, it is understandable. If someone doesn't respond appropriately, why respond at all?

Why? Is it really bad to use emoticons? People judge a person even if they express their feelings through writings and now even having emoticons?

Sorry for thinking that way as I also respond like that if I`m speechless but I like the idea of the discussion

Hello @m_audrey6788 I was afraid that I might give a wrong response and offended that person. The other reason is that person must be lazy
sometimes feelings through emos are general but with out explanation it's hard to respond back.

Hello @Hatley I know you never run out words to say, can't believe you can still write this fast. But I hope you'd slow down a bit because your words get scattered

Hello @lady1993 Well, that's right it's more acceptable in facebook but in here I hope people won't encourage too much response like that.

Hello @JudyEv I agree that is how it should be instead of just being the emoticons only.

Why I haven't encountered one here; it is admissible in FB, but not in myLot. We need words here not only emoticons.

Hello @acelawrites That's right and direct to the point, words are needed here and not entirely emoticons.

@Letranknight2015 Thanks for giving me that clue. I did search for your last two posts, and got puzzled. Will go search for the older ones now.
