Favorite Australian Bands #2 - INXS

Oh my goodness, how time flies when you are having fun, as they say. @JudyEv suggested a music countdown of my favorite Australian songs, and we are already at #2: INXS.
The seeds for INXS were planted in 1977 as The Ferriss Brothers, in Sydney (there were three Farriss brothers in INXS.)
The band was fronted by charismatic vocalist Michael Hutchence, who, naturally, became the focal point of the group. A few years after Hutchence passed away, INXS searched for a new vocalist on the reality show, Rock Star: INXS, which was won by J.D. Fortune, who spent the next six years as vocalist.
All totaled, INXS released 12 studio albums, and a whopping 69 singles. They won six Australian Recording Industry Association awards, as well as being inducted into that organizations Hall of Fame. The group has sold over 55 million records worldwide.
I've linked the official video for my favorite INXS tune, "Need You Tonight," as well as "Mediate," and face it: you can't listen to one without the other.
Enjoy!

Great band! Great songs! And my ex-fiance (who grew up in Australia) hated them. SO all the more reason to like them. :-)

I absolutely adored INXS and was so sad to hear of Michael Hutchence's passing. I remember that he was dating Helena Christensen at the time (she was model who appeared in Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" video). She must have been devastated. My favorite INXS song is the incredibly haunting "Never Tear Us Apart".

I know. Everytime I watch an INXS video, it just reminds me how awesome Michael Hutchence was.

INXS excellent group! Also enjoy the song "The One Thing." The song was their first top 40 U.S. hit!

INXS (or "Inks," as JJ once said he thought their name was)! You're right, "Need You Tonight" and "Meditate" go together like "Falling In and Out of Love" and "Amie."

The link wouldn't play for me but I found another one. Thanks for the series. It's been great. Don't tell anyone but I'm working on a series of songs with 'kangaroo' in the lyrics.
It will be the ideal excuse to put up some kangaroo photos.
