Good afternoon. I am late today and will not discuss why I am. Have you heard about this young child eating grilled cheese and die. This is so sad.Sure there was some negelct there. Below is information on this young child. This is from online. Photo also from online ___________________________________________________________________ A 3-year-old boy with a known dairy allergy died after eating grilled cheese at his New York City preschool. An adult at Seventh Avenue Center for Family Services in Harlem gave Elijah Silvera a grilled cheese sandwich last week despite the school “knowing and having documented that he has a severe allergy to dairy,” according to a GoFundMe set up for the Silvera family. The school didn’t call 911, but instead called Elijah’s mother, Dina Silvera. It's unknown if epinephrine or an Epipen was at the school.

I read about this and it is horrible! I have the same allergy as Elijah did and would’ve had the same reaction if I took even a bite of cheese. Everyone who knows me knows if that were to accidental happen that 911 has to be called right away. I hope the person who gave him the sandwhich is charged with murder, as the Center was aware of his allergy!

I do not like this charity world. It just screams we a rich country that makes people pay for our problems. Then they ask why we such a welfare state. Duh. Sorry to hear this, thought was a happy post seeing the picture.

What does a welfare state have to do with a child dying from a food allergy?

I read about this. The school should know if kids are allergic to anything and keep the foods away from the allergic kid. I see a law suit coming against the school.

This is very sad indeed. Someone will get sued - even though that won't bring the child back to life.

I cannot believe that the school did something like this. If the poor kid had a dairy allergy, they should had not to give him a grilled cheese sandwich. Someone has to pay here.

Very sad happening that. I cannot for the life of me understand why they did not call the 911 first and have put priority his allergy to dairy foods. Poor little boy I feel for his Parents. Surely at Preschool they have a Doctor or a Nurse at hand for such very young children?

@amadeo Maybe they had nothing but substitute teachers in that day, and they forgot to read the allergy list.
