What a tangled web we weave

The quote says "what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive".
I got my come uppence.
Right after I posted saying I was going to go early and surprise my husband, he called. They were ready to dismiss him could I get there by ten o'clock?
So my early arrival was a just in time arrival. He was ready to leave, they made him wait for a wheel chair.
The poor nurse on the cardiac care unit. . . three people were dismissed at the same time and she had a new group of patients being admitted, and the shuffling of people had to wait on wheel chairs. It is a rule about patients being dismissed leaving in a wheel chair.
I am glad he was released early. I was dreading today, as the people had indicated it might be late when he was dismissed. I was afraid I would arrive for a noon dismissal and it would be something like two or three. I am thankful to have my husband home.

He was threatening to just barrel on out through the doors. By the way, we went out through the Children's Entrance.

He went in for what we thought was a regular pace maker, but it turns out it is an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator. It is like a very small computer and if he goes into Afib--which is what caused his stroke--it will give his heart a shock to be back in the right rhythm.

What was up with your husband? Hasn't he fitted with pacemaker?

Actually it is a bit more elaborate than a pace maker. It is an ICD. I know you will probably research it. It does the job of a pacemaker but it will also shock, or defibrillate, his heart if he goes into an Afib heart rhythm. The Afib is what caused him to have a clot that went to his brain and caused the stroke.

@GardenGerty I know a little about Afib.My late Mom had it,but wasn't fitted with ICD due to her being up in years and having heart failure.

It is from some piece of classic literature. Probably Shakespeare.

(I think one of my aunts had similar surgery, she does have to take some medications every day.)

It feels so hard to have loved ones in so many places, away from home.

Dismissals can take time here too, I remember once I had to wait until late afternoon and it was supposed to be at 11 am or 12 noon. Glad your husband is home.

Yes, he is the type of patient the doctor likes. Relative thin, active, and not giving up.

So glad he is home. I hate when Keith works the late shift. I don't care to be home alone all night with just me and the kids.

I was exhausted the night I was home alone, or I would have never slept.

@GardenGerty When I was in my 20's and single with the older kids it did not bother me much. Now, I don't like it at all. I wonder if its because I am older and realize so much more of the things around me going on or if its the fact that people seem to be meaner these days. I am so glad that Sandy is such a good watchdog. She lets me know if a squirrel or raccoon or possum is around and if there is a human around she is all over the place. She seems to be a good deterrent.

For sure. I try to act like I am not sentimental or anything, but I appreciate having him here.
