Week 5

United Kingdom
November 17, 2017 8:30am CST
I haven't got much to say really, I'm ashamed and embarrassed because in the last week I've put on 6lbs, which is one pound more than I lost in the previous three weeks. I won't go into my excuses, I'm sick of hearing myself say it to be honest. I want to try to move away from this victim mentality and take proper control of my issues. I'm now 13 stone 8lbs and I haven't got a specific goal for next week, I just need to lose something. Last week's post:
Success! I've lost 2lbs this week, which is what I was aiming for, so now I weigh 13 stone 2lbs [em]thumbup[/em][em]thumbup[/em] It's been an unusually...

Don't beat yourself up about it, just don't dwell on it. You can start again.

Hey. That is just a bad few days like anyone else can have. Its good to have those kind of days you know so you can learn and get to be stronger in resolve to lose all that what you want and never look back. You can do it. Don´t be so hard on yourself and instead look forward to other things to do with that little goal you have got going there.

@LilyBeBack Its time to pick up the loose threads and start all over again. Day before yesterday I had one of those days too and eat everything I would not normally eat and felt a bit off too suppose it serves me right too.

Yeah you're right, thank you I've had mixed feelings about it today, it's stressed me out to the point where I've eaten so much that I'm going to bed feeling sick tonight, but I'm also hopeful because of the good advice I've been given here

Dont be embarrassed. I am in a similar boat. Having a hard time resisiting temptations of good food. Once you get into a routine/groove it will come easier. I am here if you need support!!

I am trying to lose weight. I will not place any goal on that except that I don´t want to see a gram more when I weight myself.

@TiarasOceanView It wasn't but my mam always used to quote him saying "ooh you are awful, but I like you!" I think it was a sketch where he played a woman and shoved a fella over when he said it

No worries... I'm totally with you on your last sentence... Let's just lose something, even if it's half or zero pound... As long as it's not a gain, it will be a great success! It's not easy, but you can do it!

@Srbageldog Yeah that's a good idea My aunty always loses half a stone before Christmas so she can put it back on again without worrying about having to lose it afterwards

@LilyBeBack That's good! I, on the other hand, did horribly today. I will focus on losing weight after the holidays. For now, I think I will just try not to gain weight during the holiday season.

Ups and downs. Its too easy to go up rather than down. I know where you are coming from. Plus if I veer off sensible food then my ankles and feet swell from the salt.

@sallypup Same! I only cook healthy food, but if I order something in that's what ruins it

@LilyBeBack I do pretty well if I don't eat restaurant food. My home food really keeps me in better health.

A healthy diet is good but in your case I don't know how much just dieting is going to benefit you without sorting out the problem of stress leading to eating. I'd go down the cbt route or even nlp. I paid for my treatment and it isn't cheap but it will more than likely help you. One very basic thing you could try is when you feel stress and want to eat do as many sit ups as you are physically capable of doing instead of eating. I know someone who did that and he said it helped and was cheaper than therapy. PS...you can do cbt self help courses online for free.

Yeah you're right, every now and then I look into trying to sort it out myself but it always feels like a massive undertaking that I can't do. I can though, I've done plenty of things I thought I wasn't capable of so I know I can do this. I could ask my doctor to refer me but it would take ages and then it's a question of trying to get Leonard looked after while I go, everyone I trust works full time and he's still a year and a half away from going to nursery. I didn't know you could do cbt and stuff for yourself, thank you, I'll look into that, and I'm sure the sit ups thing is something you or someone else has told me before but obviously it didn't sink in, I will 100% give that a go, thank you. With the frequency of my cravings I'll be three stone lighter with rock hard abs by next Friday

I wish it could be the same as drinking, I know it's not the same for everyone but when I stopped drinking it was almost easy because I was able to cut myself off completely from every single trigger, but obviously I can't stop eating. The closest I can get is banning myself from all unhealthy foods with no exceptions, but then there's still the tools I use to excuse my triggers, like accessibility (takeaway websites), special occasions like Christmas, etc

this is a fairly typical site that you have to pay for.
CBT online has shown to be as effective as traditional face-to-face therapy. Learn more about the basics of CBT, how it works and how to get started.

Losing weight is so difficult. It may have been a bad week but you just pick yourself back up, dust yourself off and do better next week. You got this! Nothing comes without struggles.

@Happy2BeMe That's a good point - clearly I've eaten far too much unhealthy stuff this week but I still can't see how it's six pounds worth so hopefully some of it will come off quick

@LilyBeBack You could have been retaining fluid today too so it may not have been a full 6lbs of actual weight.
