Two stories about Freddo frogs

I’ve mentioned Freddo frogs in a couple of discussions but it seems they might be more common in Australia than in other countries. They are just a small chocolate in the shape of a frog and wrapped in bright paper.
I’ve mentioned them in my discussion here: http://www.mylot.com/post/3119773/dont-you-dare-give-me-one-smartie-at-a-time which tells how Vince used to occasionally come home from work with a block of chocolate for me. Then, in the book Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus, he learnt that gifts for a woman don’t have to be huge. Women will appreciate even a small gift. So then he started bringing a Freddo frog instead of a block of chocolate. He was telling the checkout chick about this and she suggested he buy a packet of Smarties and dole them out one at a time.
The other story I have about Freddo frogs is that once, for a birthday party for one of the boys, I made green jelly (jello) and when it was nearly set I sat a Freddo frog half in and half out of the jelly. All the kids bar one thought it was great but it spooked one child out a bit.

@topffer Moderation in all things! One Smartie was not going to cut it.
And I don't think the author had thought about how devious some people could be. He was mostly talking about a single rose as a gift having as much value as a bunch of roses. Being male, he didn't follow through on his thinking and work out about the chocolates.

Yes, I don't think we have Fredo frogs here but they could be in some of the speciality stores.

It doesn't seem so. No-one in the States has said that they've seen them.

I thought they looked cute. Most of the kids liked them.

@JudyEv I've seen rabbit-shaped and bear-shaped chocolate but not a frog, that's quite unique.

What a great dish that was for the kids. As to Vince's incredibly shrinking chocolate gifts, well...it the thought that counts, so they say.

That is too funny, I think the frog in the jello is a great idea.

That's a cute frog, but for the moment there I thought it was real.
